So. I found this last evening in a comments forum at RP, of all places:
If you're here, you probably know what I am about to do, but here's the synopsis:
- From Aug 1 - Oct 9 2006 I will ride a motorcycle around China
- I'll be traveling with George Bourassa, Mike Barkelew, and David Poh
- George convinced a Chinese motorcycle company, Qingqi, to sponsor this ride
- Our route begins and ends in Jinan, Shandong province and will likely stretch as far west as Sichuan, on the Tibetan plateau
- Qingqi wants our photos and footage to turn into an advertising campaign
- I hope to post to this blog regularly to keep people apprised of our progress
...stay tuned!

Would you believe it’s 1140 and I’m just now finishing that first cup? S’true, Gentle Reader. Another one of those late, late nights, which ended around 0400 this morning. This time I was up into the early hours reading the blog, above. Time well-spent, in this case. T’isn’t always so.
Today’s Pic: The
July, 2005.
I really like our courthouse. I bought my ranch on those steps right there (it was a foreclosure sale). Portales really is the anti-New York. We are the city that not only sleeps, but rolls up the sidewalks at 5pm. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to see Believe in Me? We seldom actually go to the movies unless it's Harry Potter or the free show every week in the summer. But I may have to go see this one.

SO true about P-Town. Too true, sometimes! :-)
I'm not a movie guy (at all - haven't been to a movie since I broke up with the ex-GF two years ago or so), so I had to Google "Believe in Me," and was surprised to see the flick was filmed (in part) right here in P-Town. That fact just might change my mind and habits!!
Wow. Your courthouse looks jus tlike the one in the town I grew up in.
ReplyDeleteWhen did you move to P-ville? The film was made here in fall 04. You had to live under a frickin' rock not to know it was here!! LOL! They filmed at the Portales gym, Clovis gym, downtown Portales, a ranch north of Clovis, another ranch somewhere in Roosevelt County (Elida maybe?), the OLD hospital in Clovis (an abandoned building. The scene I was in was there). They even used the Floyd Methodist Church out here (we watched it all day, very cool!). Bruce Dern is in it (remember him shooting John Wayne in The Cowboys?). Did you think it was at all odd the other night at the courthouse with all the "Go Cyclones" signs instead of "Go Rams"? LOL! The premier is actually going to be in Clovis and Portales on Thursday (I bet no hollywood bigwigs show up, though).

ReplyDeleteI was here, under my rock. As a matter of fact, I think SN1 was still here, too, in which case I find it odd as all get out that my daughter-in-law (who was born and raised in P-Town) didn't mention it. Actually, now that the first lil caffeine molecules are beginning to circulate and be absorbed into my brainpan, I know they were still here. And I didn't know about the movie.
Ya, I did think it odd about those Cyclones signs, which caused more than a bit of cognitive dissonance... On the one hand, I thought "maybe it's a prank." OTOH, I thought "if it's a prank, why are they STILL there?"
