Lame

So, there I was... reading (looking at the pictures, actually, as there's not much to read there) this article called "24 Things No One Tells You About Leaving Texas" and I see this:

Which was about the ONLY thing I agreed with.  All the rest of it?  Lame.  And the worst part is whoever put this thing together failed to mention "paying state income tax," which one MUST do in all but nine states here in the USofA.  That's a biggie.  Go ahead, ask me how I know.

  1. About the only things wrong with Texans is they won't stay home and they won't shut up (HSWHTPFIHC).

    1. Well, Alaska coming into the union put a lid on SOME of their bombast.

  2. Illinois did not have a State Income Tax during my childhood or during my stint in the AF--it was instituted sometime in the late 70/early 80s. However it is a flat tax (currently 5% iirc) so is vastly simplified compared to most states. Natch, as luck would have it for us, both CA and La. have some of the most convoluted, screwed up tax-forms/systems extant, so DEFINITELY nojoy there at tax time..

NM is pretty easy, given state tax is based on your Fed 1040.

  3. How's that great song go about a Louisianan crossing over into Texas for the first time? "I see miles and miles of Texas!"

    1. I was a Texan until I moved out of El Casa Móvil De Pennington in 2011, therefore I paid no state income tax. Nowadays I pay the State of New Mexico over $1500.00 per year for the privilege of living here. That's a lot o' beer

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
