Another One of Those Days

Meaning the sort o' day where the folks from Shoebox have to step in and save my blogging bacon.  With this:

What?  It's too early to get drunk, even for me.*

* Full disclosure: I rarely... almost NEVER... get drunk these days.  While it's true I drink every day, it's always in moderation... read as: two beers in the afternoon and three fingers o' whiskey (bourbon or single malt, depending) after dinner.  Hell, I don't even get a decent buzz on that.

  1. I can count on the fingers of one hand the times I've been ripped over the past 20 years. If I find a really good brew, I'll have two (OK, three, if it's a long evening) and if it's a quality steak we're having, then a nice scotch.

By the way, I just now noticed your "politics" patch over on the right. Yup.

    1. We're on the same page. The last time I got really, seriously, in my cups was at granddaughter Felicity's wedding, which took place two years ago. There are a lot o' reasons for that, but chief among them is that hangovers hurt a LOT more these days than they used to.

    2. They hurt much more and the recovery time is a major problem too. Since getting my second DVT at Christmas and going on new meds (xarelto and metoprolol), I can't even drink a single beer without getting a nasty and almost immediate headache. So I've just eliminated alcohol altogether. Sigh.

    3. @ Dan: Damn. That's not good news on any of several fronts, Dan. Hang in there.

  2. I saw this over there, too.
I won't say anything, because when I do, it comes out looking like a lecture (to me anyway).

OTOH - re: Sully's comment... I don't have enough fingers on both hands to count how many times I've been hammered in the last 20 years.
    Laugh. That's funny.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
