♪♫ If I Were a Rich Man, Ya-Ta-Dadda-Dadda-Dadda-Da... ♫♪

So said Tevye and so sez me, meaning I wish I had an extra 200K bucks layin' around to spend on this:

Oh, MY.  Back in the day when I bought my '67 Chevelle SS396 there was this guy in town who had a '67 Nova SS with the 350hp/327 small block in it.  I raced him on two or three occasions and the boy cleaned my clock every single time... by about two or three car lengths... the races were never close.  I've not-so-secretly wanted one of those cars ever since.  There are a lot of pics of this car here and they'll make yer mouth water if you're any kind of a gear-head.

  1. Me, from ages 14-44: "I want that car so bad. It is frickin' awesome!"

Me, today, age 45: "Solid lifters so I'd have to set the lash every five minutes... It's too expensive to risk actually driving it... Points? Really, I have to mess with point gap?.. A modern Mustang or Caddy CTS would blow its doors off AND get better mileage..." etc etc

Dunno how it happened, but I have crossed some invisible line and now reside in Old Fart Land.

    1. But if you were a rich man you'd have people to maintain the car... all you'd have to do would be drive it. ;-)

That said, I hear ya. I remember doin' the "points and plugs" thing all TOO well, and too often. This modern age has spoiled us to a great extent.

  2. Just think how much fun it would be to take it to Reno for Hot August Nights...

...or to Royal Oak for the Woodward Ave. Cruise...

    ...or both!!!

    1. I'd LOVE to take that car to the Woodward Ave Dream Cruise. One of my (minor) claims to fame is participating in the first Dream Cruise, about which, this:

Greg, TSMP, and I had one truly embarrassing moment before the Caddy was completely road-worthy… when the Caddy stopped dead…right in the middle of Woodward Avenue somewhere in Birmingham during the First Annual Woodward Dream Cruise. The three of us wound up pushing the car several blocks to Greg’s house, which (thankfully) wasn’t all that far away when she quit. And we got her running again…

That's in regard to my ''54 Caddy... which was a fun car... but not NEARLY as much fun as that '66 Nova would be...

    1. Isn't it funny/strange how whitewalls have gone the way of the dodo?

    2. On the right older model car, whitewalls look amazing. On new cars, not so much... it's a little strange, isn't it?

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
