I Turned It Off

I just can't watch any more... my heart's not in it.  Finland goes up 4-0 after another power play goal... with a little over ten minutes left in the third... that goal being the second goal of the game by Teemu Selane, playing in his sixth Olympics.  What a way for the guy to go out and what a disappointment for Team USA fans.

Not our time, indeed.

  1. I figured you might be in seclusion, mourning. Sorry, Buck.

  2. This was predictable. In tennis three-set matches in the old days before tie-breakers if the first set went way long and closely fought the loser would/is usually crushed psychologically and usually loses the second set in short order. The classic case I saw first hand was in the 1958 NAIA semi-finals between Reginald Bennett (UK) of Pan American (TX) and Pedro Bueno ( Brazil--Maria Bueno's brother) of Lamar Tech. Bennett won the first set 32-30. He won the second 6-0..

    1. The Finns lost a heart-breaker to their arch rival Sweden the day before, too. It didn't seem to affect them. Nope, the US just fuckin' collapsed. Lack of heart, too self-centered. Despicable. Am I angry? Yes.

  3. It seems the bronze medal just didn't mean jack to the Americans. When they're old and gray they'll probably feel different.

What a freakin' waste of 2 & 1/2 hours on a Sat. morning. And yes, I watched the whole pathetic display.

    1. I HAD to turn it off... it was early in the morning on the weekend and I was afraid the neighbors would hear me screaming obscenities at my teevee... which I most certainly was doing.

  4. Yeah, very much a letdown for those of us who watched the USA-Russia match. We don't get the rematch, only one of the teams made the medal games, and neither of them won. Congratulations to Canada, of course. They were outstanding. And my main man goalie Tuuka Rask was good for Finland. But a very big not much for USA fans.

    1. The tournament as a whole was quite entertaining and we saw some great hockey. But as you say: disappointing.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
