You Can't Play the "Get Out o' Jail Free" Card Here

Well, now.  Don't THAT just beat all.  I dunno about you, Gentle Reader, but I'll take a Courtyard over an exercise yard, any ol' time.  (From a piece in the WSJ)

And aren't we the Early Bird today?  Why, yes... yes we ARE.  This is what happens when you turn out the lights at 2200 hrs: your eyes pop open at 0400 hrs and refuse to shut again.  I think there might be an early afternoon nap in my future.

And then there's this...

Today's Google doodle; it's Hermann Rorschach's 129th birthday.  And if ya click the arrows on either side o' the blot often enough you get sumthin' like this:

I never really could see anything in those ink blots until today.

  1. I always thought those ink blots were way too busy.

    And not enough glitter.

    1. I thought it kinda amazing how the blot kept morphing... and then I saw the butterfly/cat and the elves... :-)

  3. The best way to drive the shrink nutzo is to concentrate on the white part of the ink blot. Thus, in the example it is two old ladies dissecting the plumber who tried to give them a $1600 bill. The shrink will then start getting nervous and say the time is up, because they hate that dissecting word. It is why they flunked out of residence training, and had to pick shrink to get a job.

    1. I'd stay away from shrinks if I were you, Inkee. ;-)

  4. You know there IS a book which describes the range of acceptable explanations for EACH & EVERY ONE of the ink-blots on the Rorschach Test/Scale. I checked it out of the library once just to beat the Air Force shrinks when under-going standard screening for nukes. Turns out that the MORE NUMEROUS the variations one claims to detect and the richer the explanatory detail (i.e., indicating an active imagination and a "supple" mind) the higher one's IQ is supposed to be and the more the Docs will be "impressed." LOL.

    1. @Inkee: Never mind.

@Virgil: I don't recall ever having had to take the Rorschach test. Then again, I was never in the nuke bid'niz, either.

  5. I never had to take a Rorschach Test; I'm sure if I had I wouldn't be speaking to you today - they'd have locked me up. A little perverse, am I.

That's just ONE o' the reasons we like you.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
