We've Begun the Countdown

Countdown?  To what, you ask?  This:

The game is officially sold out... which means over 107,000 friendly and not-so-friendly souls will watch the game... in The Big House!

  1. I can't imagine how there are any really good seats for that game.
All I can figure is folks will say, "Ya hadda be there!"
    "Eh?"

    1. I wouldn't go, even if I still lived in Dee-troit. There's the weather (never good on New years Day in Michigan), the price o' beer (MUCH cheaper at my house), the crowds ('nuff said, eh?), and as you said: the game itself (I'll have replays and will actually SEE all the goals). Yup... it's the ultimate "ya hadda be there" thing.

  2. I sat in that stadium 50 plus years ago. Several times less than 1/2 full. A few times in wind driven snow.

    1. Hockey in Dodger Stadium just seems wrong, somehow. . .

  4. I did go see my Spartans get mashed at th' Big House, many-many years ago. But we've been the ones doin' the mashing just lately. Just sayin'. . .

We had a MSU-UM hockey game at Spartan Stadium several years back. When you consider that front-row seats at the stadium might be farther from the ice than the nose-bleeds at Joe Louis. . . yeah, it's pretty much just a hadda-be-there thing. 'Cuz the Big House in January just doesn't seem all that appealing.

Altho, now as I think on it, a Red Wings game is about the best use I can think of fer that place. They usually waste it on the funny-helmet blue-corn football guys. . .

    ;)

Excellent point. When I'm in proselytizing mode I ALWAYS tell newbies to go see a game live, coz even the cheap seats at any given arena are usually good seats... and MUCH better than watching a game on teevee. Not this time, however. It makes me wonder how the people in the cheap seats at Michigan Stadium will even know where the puck is half the time.

As for football... I USED to come down on the side o' Big Blue back when I lived in Dee-troit, except when they played ND. You really could NOT be ambivalent on MSU - UoM game days -- you HAD to choose. These days I just find the game to be interesting, as all rivalries are. Speaking o' rivalries... didja watch the Ducks - Beavers last night? THAT was a game!

    1. I did NOT see that, Rummy. I thought it could be likely, given the Chief's new job, but I sure hate to see it.

    1. Wow! That's a pretty full slate of events and damned cool, too. I hope the WX cooperates for all those events, but Ra-cha-cha in December? That'll be a crap shoot.
