Wherein we discover the shortcomings of the mePhone camera... in tryin' to take pictures of tonight's brilliant sunset. Note:
Captioned as appropriate. The mePhone takes great general-purpose shots but when it comes to creative stuff... like sunsets... I really should break out the Big Camera, which does really good work when it comes to sunsets. Like this:
There are times when I miss Beautiful La Hacienda Trailer Park. I had better vistas there, believe it or don't.
Unmodified, straight outta the mePhone. |
Modified... closer to reality as I saw it. |
Modified, and waaay over-exposed on the white. |

There is something to be said for those clunky SLRs with all the bells and whistles.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. I was thinkin' about putting mine up on eBay and just goin' with the phone but I won't do that. Hell, I still have my old film SLR and I haven't used it since 1999.
DeleteI have not mastered my SLR yet, from the look of your photo.... you have. Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI haven't mastered mine yet, either... I still have to go to the manual occasionally to find out how to do something. And I want to do a time-lapse sequence some day, once I learn how.
DeleteThe big clunky cameras have their place, but the ease of carrying your smartphone and catching some great shots...well, it is just very appealing. Then the apps on your phone to "doctor" your photos makes me envious.
ReplyDeleteI rarely use the apps on my phone to edit, Lou. I've played with 'em but I don't care much for the results. What processing I do to a pic is done on the 'puter with an app called ACDSee or with P-Shop Elements.
DeleteThat last sunset shot is a knockout. To my untrained and lazy eye, all the other iPhone ones look pretty good too, although I think I like the modified ones a little better than the straight out of the phone shot.
ReplyDeleteI played with the phone's shots a lot before I got to something acceptable. Most of the sunsets I shoot with the SLR go straight from the camera to the blog... with no additional processing.
