A Day Out In Old Virginny

My day Saturday...

We set out to drive the Colonial Parkway, destination Williamsburg.

We found this old guy writing a declaration o' some sort and I lent him a hand.

That same old guy kinda took a shine to Grandson Sean.  Watch where you put your hands, Mr. Jefferson.

Speaking of Old Guys... they were pretty wise.

Taking a page out of Mr. Johnson's book... we headed for the Dog Street Pub, whose menu had one page of food and three pages of beers and wine.  Srsly.

Grandson Sean & SN2, in the pub.

SN1 & YrHmblScrb in the same venue.

My lunch: mussels.  Yum!  I HAD to do seafood.

SN2 was the designated driver.
It was a guys' day out... three generations o' Pennington men set loose on the unsuspecting inhabitants and visitors of/to Williamsburg.  No locals or tourists were harmed in the making of this production but a great good time was had by all concerned.

I've decided to delay my departure for home by a day; we'll spend the entire weekend at the SN1 home.

  1. Jesse has always wanted to visit Williamsburg - looks like fun. I like SN1's t-shirt. Sean is getting so big - handsome like the other Pennington men.

    1. Williamsburg is one part history and three parts tourist trap... but it IS fun!

  2. Funny, in the pictures while you are in the Pub, those of drinking age seem to look a good deal happier than the yute. Just sayin' ...

Its been decades since I've been there. Would make for a nice road trip.

    Cheers!

    1. It was fun, to be sure. And yeah, the drinkers were definitely happy about that pub, given the length and breadth o' the beer list.

  3. Regarding photo number two: I can easily picture you in a powdered wig and tri-corner hat, yelling "Give me liberty or give me death!" at some redcoats.

  4. I'm guessing he's OK with that. Some visits are inexplicably hard to end.

  5. Ah, Colonial Williamsburg. Visited there with the Missus Herself and the Nuke a couple of years back.

Looks like you guys had a good time.

I'm glad you delayed your departure, ya know October ain't all that far off. And Virginia, while beautiful any time of year, is particularly lovely in the late summer/early fall. Also, word on the street is that Mongo may make our little Lexican get-together in Mystic.

    Just sayin'...

    1. I just read you comment to my DIL and her response was "STAY! You can fill yer scrips out at Langley, ydda, yadda." (There's more to that yadda-yadda, like checks I have to write to ex-wives and state agencies but we won't go there.) I AM tempted, but we'll be on the road in about a half-hour.

    2. I do get that. Real life so often intrudes on what could be a perfect existence.

Stay safe, have a good trip.

    2. Thank you Buck. Glad you enjoyed it. And the singer is retired AF, so you have that connection... though he is a few years behind you.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
