In Which We Feel the Perfect Fool

I was awakened at the ungodly hour of 0900 this morning by my friend Oscar, the service guy from the local appliance store, who had come to look at my microwave... which does double duty as a platform for the stove top lights... like this:

Note both lights are on and shining brightly; that was definitely NOT the case before Oscar's visit this morning as the lights... BOTH of them... failed simultaneously a short while ago.  Being the rather quick and perceptive person I AM I immediately thought "uh-oh" the first time I depressed the switch after the lights failed.  BOTH bulbs couldn't have failed simultaneously, this sorta thing just doesn't happen.  It HAS to be a bad switch, thinks I.

No.

Both bulbs failed simultaneously.  Oscar screws in two new bulbs and Walla!  Let there be light.

So I had the property management company send a guy out to change light bulbs for me.

I am mortified.

  1. Q: How many retired Air Force Master Sergeants does it take to change a light bulb?

A: None, we have people who do that for us.

    Feel better now?

    Nah, didn't think so.

    1. Your comment is AMAZING... mainly coz I considered including EXACTLY that as a part of this post. The reason I didn't? The property management people know I have a blog...

      Appearances, and all that.

I wonder if that's the problem at Younger Daughter's house?

  3. Once upon a time we came back into port and hooked up our 3 phase electric lines to our switchboard and energized it. The engineering department went nuts trying to figure out what happened to the reefers and air conditioning and so on since they weren't compressing anything. About 2 hours later I suggested that maybe we ought to check that the electricians had wired us up properly. We all felt pretty stupid.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
