All the Best Parties End In the Kitchen

It's not like this was the end, but...

It was a group shot.  Left to right: Jeff, one of the guys who works with Buck; SN1; grandson Sean; me; SN2; neighbor Nick.  A good time was had by all... and said good times continue, as we speak.

  1. GREAT photo! Doesn't GET any better than that Buck.

They say "virtue is its own reward" but since you and I both know that when it comes to us highly suspect types the concept of "virtue" is TOTALLY foreign to our twisted minds, so I'll amend the saying to something more appropriate for geezers like us and just say that you can take solace in the knowledge that "LONGEVITY" is its own reward!

So, in celebration of the above (and your son's birthday) I'll leave you with a toast:

"The horse and Mule live for 30 years,
And never know of wines or beers
The goat and sheep at 20 die,
Without a taste of scotch or rye,
The cow drinks water by the ton
And at 18 is mostly done,
The dog at 15 cashes in
Without the aid or rum or gin.
The cat in milk and water soaks,
And then in 12 short years it croaks.
    The modest, sober, bone-dry hen,
Lays eggs for noggs and dies at 10.
    All animals are strictly dry,
They sinless live and swiftly die.
    But sinful, ginful, rum-soaked men
    Survive three-score years and 10.
And some of us...though mighty few,
    Stay pickled until we're 92!"

  2. PS: I think I ran that toast by you once before, but thought it appropriate (and good enough) to repeat.

    1. I'm not fully caffeinated yet but I'm pretty sure this is the first time you've put that toast in a comment here. It was perfect for last night, LOL! A liitle long, perhaps, but perfect.

Thanks for your other kind words above. Longevity IS its own reward!

  3. If I ever design and build another house ...which is highly unlikely ...it will be mostly kitchen.
The current pad currently has the family room adjoining the kitchen through a large archway.
But that's not quite as desirable as a kitchen with access from and to all directions.
I will also seek to have counter space just about everywhere.

    1. This place isn't like the house you'd design, Skip, but it is right off the deck and right next to the family room, so it's pretty well located. I hear you about counter space. That was one of the best things about moving out of El Casa Móvil De Pennington, which had NO counter space... at all.
