I HATE It When That Happens!

Poor Marie.  She was SO misunderstood.  She had really nice digs, though.

  1. Marie was a fairly fascinating woman. While at Versailles, the gardens were pretty bare and it was downright cold. We did not get to do much exploring on the grounds. I really wanted to see more of Marie's playhouses.

    1. Yeah, you didn't pick the best time o' the year to see the gardens, Lou. I told you my Versailles fountain story, didn't I?

    2. I remember you telling me about playing at the fountain, but I cannot recall the whole story. I'm always up for a rerun.

    3. When I was a kid the management kept the fountains on all the time. These days they turn 'em off as a cost-saving measure and only turn 'em on once a day... for about a half hour. You DON'T want to be there when they turn the fountains on in the summer coz the stench is damned near unbearable. Stagnant water breeds all kinds of stinky things and that's very apparent when the fountains begin to run and circulate all those stinky things into the air. It's horrible. When Paula and I went to Versailles and they turned the fountains on she looked at me and said "My God! Let's get the Hell away from here!"

    4. I think that may have been an whole new story for me. That is the good thang about getting old - old stories become new.
