I used to close my office door after lunch and take about a half-hour to check my eyelids for holes... but that was only after I was pretty well established. You're right: people, especially management types, don't get it.
I used to never sleep during the day, interrupted my sleep at night. Until around age 47 - now I heartily endorse and practice the fine, high art of a great nap.
I learned to appreciate naps sometime in my early twenties

I find I stay up later when I nap, as well. I don't care, though... I can sleep all damned day if'n I wanna. ;-)
DeleteI love me a big dog nap.
