Saturday: Nucking Futs

This guy:

It was hard for me to even WATCH this, let alone contemplate doing it.  Some people's kids.

    1. Holee SHIT! And here I though climbing radar antennae was bad; the highest I ever got was mebbe eight or ten stories off the ground and that made me seriously queasy. Yes, I have acrophobia... but climbing was a "condition of employment," so I did it. But only when I HAD to do it.

  3. The only part that got me was when he was hanging by one frickin' arm. Two was risky enough, though in my younger years I've done stupid crap not unlike that.

I worked in NYC on elevators and used to eat my lunch on open steel 40, 50 and even 60 stories up. No fall protection was hooked up, though we were required to wear the belt. I walked open steel without fall protection all the time and didn't think anything of it. Even after having seen a guy fall 20 floors down a shaft. (Not that seeing him fall didn't affect me, that was ugly shite, and still bugs me).

I just think of that kid doing that on equipment like that, no guarantee he can maintain the grip, or if the surface of that pipe is going to let him. All for no pay either. Now THAT is nuts. ;)

    1. Some folks can deal with heights quite well and I've known a lot of people like that. I'm not one of 'em, unfortunately. I sure as hell couldn't do what you did in NYC, OG.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
