Negative incentive...
Some of my blog-buds are makin' noises about hangin' it up and pushing themselves away from the keyboard for good. A few have already done so and the evidence is in my sidebar, what with the abundance of dead blogs therein. I'm beginning to have similar thoughts and my mood isn't enhanced when I look at the Site Meter graph, above. All things must pass... mebbe EIP is at the end of its natural life.
But what else would I do with my mornings?
Update, 1315 hrs. Chris, in comments, mentions that Site Meter might have issues and I think I might agree. I just checked Blogger's stats and it seems like all's well with our traffic. Note:
OK, I'm all better now.

Well ya know, I turned off SiteMeter after a two week period wherein it claimed I had no visitors. Yet those "no visitors" left a number of comments. So I turned SiteMeter off.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin'. It might be the gauge is faulty, did you tap on the glass.
I guess that's a rather long way of saying, that if you quit blogging, why that would just suck.
That's a damned good point about SiteMeter... they HAVE been known to screw the pooch and it seems like they're doin' that a lot, lately. I'd just poured my first cup when I put the post up this morning; a subsequent peek at Blogger's stats tell an entirely different story about our traffic.
DeleteThat's why I've stuck to Blogger's stats. Even if they're not 100% accurate, they've never dropped to zero. That would make me panic as well. Blogger's stats also help to stroke my not inconsiderable ego. Heh.
DeleteThere's lies, damn lies and statistics.
ReplyDeleteWhat use are they except to explain some kind of behavior?
All too true, Ivan.
DeleteTo Hell with YOUR wants & needs, Buck, what am *I* gonna do if I don't have sites like this to visit and comment/vent?-------ESPECIALLY "Vent." lol
ReplyDeleteYou could still come by and comment on the last post, Virgil. I'd answer your comments. Forever. ;-)
DeleteI know that even if I don't post I usually visit your site at least once a day, sometimes more.
ReplyDeleteOf course there are a few days that get missed due to not having the time, but those are rare. I would think any delays would have minimal impact as they don't usually last long. And being creatures of habit, we tend to keep coming back even if there are problems. The sites I visited in the past that went dead I still check on once in a while to see if they are back. I think it would take a long period of woes for it to show that big a decline on your site.
Keep up the fight... inquiring minds like to know what you are up to. ;)
You're very kind, OG, and I appreciate that.
DeleteI know that even if I don't post...
DeleteYou have a blog, OG? I checked your profile and there's nothing there to indicate that. Please advise!
DON'T DO IT!! You're on my list of "must reads" after a long day of retardedness!!
ReplyDeletePlease stay, Buck!!
HC
Thank you, HC. I haven't made up my mind yet.
Deletehmmm.... :(
ReplyDeleteThanks, marc.
DeleteDon't pay attention to your site meter, you have loyal followers and that is what is important.
ReplyDeleteYou always cut to the chase Lou, and you're usually correct, too.
DeleteWhat Bag said. Plus, screw sitemeter. Keep EIP going. It's not time for the fat lady's song.
ReplyDeleteI prolly won't quit, Dan. My ego's too big. ;-)
