Want

GM unveiled the C7 'Vette yesterday and it's a beauty!

Wow.  They did a magnificent job on the update... and there are many more photos and a decent write-up on Vettes past and present here.

2014 is also the Vette's 60th anniversary.  Chevy has come a long, long way from this...

to this:

Like I said:  want.  I think a blue or black one would look mighty fine parked next to The Tart.

  1. Nice; I see echoes of the 60s-vintage Stingray in the styling. . .

    1. Mebbe that's why GM's calling it a Stingray. ;-)

  2. Buck, a friend of mine sent me a link to pics of the new Corvette yesterday. It is a fierce and sexy beauty. So be careful. I think the Tart might be extremely jealous if her even sexier younger sister is parked beside her.

The Vettes have come a long way as you say. But, I still remember seeing that pre production '54 in the '53 GM Motorama that came to Nashville. I was only 13 but I fell in love that night. It still looks pretty danged good today.

    1. The Tart need not worry, there ain't sufficient wherewithal for me to acquire a stablemate for her.

In re: '54 Vettes. I saw an immaculately restored '54 at a car show in Amarillo a few years back and the guy who owned it drove it to the show... it wasn't one of those Trailer Queens. We talked for a good long while and he said the car was a great cruiser but short on performance (i.e., that ol' Blue Flame Six and Powerglide). "But"... sez he... "I have a 2007 LS-1 Vette if I wanna go fast." Some people...

    2. Back in my college days, a group of us rented a house together. We had a good relationship with our landlord; we did some chores and maintenance on the place, and he gave us a break in the rent. But he told us, in no uncertain terms, that the garage was his, and we weren't to enter it under any circumstances. So, OK, no big deal. Then, two weeks before our lease was up, he comes over and says, "You guys have been good tenants, and I'll miss having you here. How'd you like to see what's in the garage?" Sure, what the heck, right? Looking back, it's almost surprising that none of us ever tried to get a peek inside, but we never did. Anyhow, when he opens the door, there's a cherry '57 'Vette inside. . .

    3. I was reading another article on the new Vette in the Freep last night and there was this paragraph that said something to the effect of "EVERYONE has a Vette story." I guess that's true, eh? And yours is particularly good.
