Today's Happy Hour Soundtrack, Wherein We're a Day Late But Not a Dollar Short

Our commenter o' many names (most of which tend to be French) fired off a few dormant synapses in his comments to this post...

Most people would have posted "Nights In White Satin" from this album but I like the other hit better.  Not that "Nights" isn't great, coz it most certainly IS.  It's too bad the song isn't titled "Wednesday Afternoon," at which time it would have been a most perfect description of our day.  Alas, a day late...

That said, we also like this a lot... mainly for the bizarre comments at the end of the song.

Somebody exploded an H-bomb today
But it wasn't anyone I knew
Heh.

In other news... we took our first Happy Hour beer on the verandah today, even though it was only 40 degrees outdoors.  Proof:

Don't we look pleased?  Well, we WERE, because the pure white light of the brilliant New Mexico winter sun was also exceedingly warm.  We did Happy Hour without a jacket, even... just a sweater was all, and that was enough.  Note the date/time stamp, which I enabled lest someone take issue with the veracity of our statement.

  1. Well, I'll be...

Saw you had a new post up, like the music (Moody Blues brings me back I can tell ya).

But then I saw your "on the veranda pic"...

...and don't you look a helluva LOT like Bobby Lee. And I mean that in a GOOD way.

    1. That's his stern "Get off my porch!" stare, Sarge. :)

    2. @Sarge: The Korean stand-up guy? I googled "Bobby Lee" and that's about all I got.

    3. @Virgil: Nah... that's my "wanna beer and sit a spell?" look.

    4. Buck, I think he means Bobby Lee as in Robert E. Lee? Google that ans see if you find something ;)

    5. @Dano: Well, there's my "Duh!" moment for the day! I'm SO literal most of the time... and it hurts.

  2. I think it may be necessary to get a shot like that.
Except there won't be lit cigar.
We're enjoying exceptional weather at the moment, except when the Sun goes down.
    Then it's downright nippley (IYKWIM).

  3. Always loved that song...if I die on a Tuesday I'm having it played at my services.. (among others like ELPs C'est La Vie--don't get me started--the list is long..)

You're right about the warmth factor in the sun--if there is ZERO wind, that is--just don't get sun-burned, lol.

  4. PS: Should I inclu the Stones "You can't always get what You Want" as well? I'm toying with the idea..lol

    1. And of course the order in which they will be played is vital to the narrative effect...choices, choices...decisions, decisions.. lol

    2. Why, you Big Chiller, you. I told TSMP (at the time, it no longer applies today, LOL) and all my progeny that THAT's the song I want played at my funeral, and I don't give a damn if it's been done before.

    3. That was about "You Can't Always Get What You Want," which you prolly understood but I felt the need to make perfectly clear.

After posting that walk down memory lane, I think I listened to an hour of Moody Blues. Lots of memories there. Sounds better even on my PC, then the old stereos back when.

Hey, yea, putting on some fur for the winter is good.

    1. I listened to better than an hour today. There's this guy on the Tube O' You that has posted entire albums of their stuff and that was my soundtrack until well after dinner was over.

  7. I haven't thought of the Moody Blues in a while. I may have to have the best of album.

The photo is very nice for a self portrait. I got the reference to Bobby Lee and agree. And then I had a moment where I thought of your youngest son.

    1. In re: Moody Blues. This is where I insert my constant "I miss my vinyl" remark. I have all their albums on vinyl...

Thanks for the kind words on the pic. I always think of SN3 when I hear "Bobby," too.
