Miscellanea

No outdoor Happy Hour today...

I just stuck my head out the door to see what's what... and I suppose I COULD get all bundled up and sit out in the sun, even if the wind chill looks intimidating.  That sorta defeats the point of Happy Hour, in that I wouldn't be all THAT happy drinkin' beer in my field jacket.  We're soft in our old age.

Merry Christmas to me:

I won't pop for a tablet, but I WILL upgrade my monitor (details here, if'n you're in the market).  It should arrive in about a week and I'm expecting great things from this.  I might even start watching movies on my desktop now.

  2. Nice Christmas present!

It turned cooler here, but not too bad. I'm enjoying it. This over heating thang is not so fun. Toby kind of like it, well, he likes me sleeping naked and ripping my clothes off at odd times. I told him he could tell when I'm overheating by putting his hand on my head and feeling the heat. He said he did not have to feel of me - he could tell by my running outside naked.

    1. Heh. Thanks for the visuals, Lou. Apropos o' not much... I've always favored wimmen who slept naked... or at least started out that way. ;-)

  4. Netflix and Hulu are my favorite sources for tv entertainment. If it weren't for the Spousal Unit loving her cooking shows, I would cancel the satellite receiver. BTW, I use Apple tv to wirelessly send the shows to the living room. Sony and a few others make similar products for about thirty bucks less.

    1. So what's on the living room end of that set-up? I don't think my satellite receiver has wireless...

    2. Sorry for the delayed answer; The internet is hooked to a wifi transmitter. The Apple TV puck is plugged into television, you then follow the prompts to sign into your covered wifi system. Netflix, Hulu, Youtube and music are automatically connected (You have to add in the passwords). I will be hooking up the Sony version to my Mom's tv, so I will have better descriptions in about two weeks. We really like the system and I now have all my music available along with photos as a screen saver for the tv.

As for my tv; I have a 40 inch flat screen and a 32 inch as the auxiliary in another room. The sound system is a Bose Cinemate 1SR I acquired at the NEX.

  5. Nice looking monitor and at 24" it's 7" bigger than our first tv set at 17" (back in '63) and we watched a ton of old movies on it. Your monitor will be like a theater compared to that. On the computer front, my gateway is about all shot but the samsung monitor (20" I think) is mighty fine. Ditto Barco on Netflix. We stream a lot of stuff from that to our bluray and then watch it on the TV in the rec room.
