Heh, Right now it's unseasonably mild in little Rhody, mid-50's. Good thing too, damn boiler gave up the ghost today and it's gonna be a day or three before they can put the new one in. Just what I need to do is drop 9 grand just before Christmas. Oh well, I should look at the bright side, the new boiler is gonna be way more environmentally friendly. (Whoopie-de-freakin-doo)
BTW, Buck, speaking of the WX, been meaning to ask how come how come Portales seems to enjoy such mild winters compared to the sub-zero blizzards that near-by (comparatively) Amarillo enjoys all the time. (Of course a mere 50 miles or so can mean a lot. My hometown in Illinois is 50 miles south of Chanute AFB @ Rantoul/Champaign-Urbana and in the 50s, 60s, at least, they seemed to be on the southern edge of blizzard territory in East Central Illinois, while we enjoyed milder winters by comparison, with only the occasional blizzard/heavy icing conditions..)
We're not immune from ice, snow, and miserable below-zero temps. Remember my sojourn in the Holiday Inn Express in the winter 0f 2011? That's why I live where I do now...
It's 54 right now in Music City, going up to the high 60s today. Not too shabby. As for the Portales /Amarillo question, here's my theory: Amarillo gets those Blue Northers while Portales gets that El Pinto Salsa. :-)
It's been mild here but there is a nip in the air now; breezy and chilly. But no snow...yet.
I love Bluebirds, especially how they looked so pissed off all the time - even on a bright, sunny summer day. To be that beautiful and look that angry all the time...

ReplyDeleteYour theory is as good as any, Dan... and better than most.
