We Done Done the Deal

Out and back... cast my vote, paid a couple o' local bills, put a certified letter in the mail, motored out to Cannon Airplane Patch where we got our bi-monthly shearing, picked up some meds (both at the CAFB pharmacy AND the Class VI), and now we're home... preparing to kick off Happy Hour.  Who was it that sang "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere?"  (No answer required... I KNOW.)

This was the scene at my polling place this morning:

Yer typical cheesy cell-phone pic

The lines were relatively short compared to some other places I've voted.  I was in and out in about a half-hour... 20 minutes in line, ten minutes to vote; the latter because we use paper ballots here in P-Ville and I made DAMNED sure I colored within the lines and all the lil ovals were completely filled.

Beer me!

  1. We have those draw a straight line between two parts of an arrow paper ballots.
Dunno what the lines were like because we voted absentee last week thinking we might be elsewhere this week.
This was my thirteenth Presidential election. I couldn't tell how many other elections I've voted in.

    1. My 12th presidential election... I had to use both hands and a foot to figger that out... and I have NO idea how many others I've voted in, either.

  2. I had three people in front of me in the voting line at ten o'clock, this morning. There was plenty of tension in the air as half the room had a higher melanin count than I
wear and they were looking at me trying to suss out how I would vote. I stayed nice and pleasant to all and thanked the Democrat Lady who helped me get my ballot.

Let's hope for a massive landslide so that America can get back to work and keep America standing strong!

    1. I'm beginning to turn pessimistic as of this hour... Pennsylvania and Wisconsin just called for Obama; the electoral vote count is tied. No landslide for either one of 'em but I don't like the way it's looking.

  3. Voted at 10:30am - no one ahead of us in our line to check-in; we checked in, voted and left in about 10 minutes. Like you Buck, I made damn sure all my little ovals were filled in neatly and thoroughly. What a great country we live in and with all hope and prayer - to become greater after today.

    1. I have a feelin' it's gonna take a LOT of prayer, Kris. Say one for me.

  4. Stopped off at the likker store after work before voting at 1500 HRS. We use fancy electronic 'chines, so it took me about 30 seconds (even with 9 Constitutional Amendments...this IS Louisiana, and we can not have a dogcatcher election without at least a half dozen changes to the State Constitution).

Oh...the likker store stop was to buy a bottle of champagne & a bottle of whiskey. One for celebrating, and the other for drowning my sorrows. We shall see which bottle gets the nod pretty soon.

  5. We early voted a week or so ago. There was a very long line (about 130-140 ahead of us), but we were surprised at how quickly it moved and how efficient the process was. The whole deal took no more than 20-25 minutes. The poll workers were totally neutral (not a single sign of partisanship) but friendly and knew what they were doing. Not a bad experience at all.

    1. My experience was good this morning, too. Everyone was completely neutral, including the people in line. I didn't overhear a single partisan comment.

  6. At my polling place there was a table. There were four lines indicated above the table. "A - C" "D - K" "L - P" and "Q - Z". Guess, just guess what percentage of the people waiting in the line could not figure that out. By my reckoning it was about 40%. And they get to vote? Amazing! As Yakov Scmirnoff used to say, "What a country!"

    1. I'm FIRMLY in favor of a literacy test before you're allowed to vote. Yeah... "what a country!"

  7. Toby voted in Velma this morning at the Baptist church. He said there was one other person voting, and the rest were all the little old ladies - voter volunteers. Those old ladies may be one of the reasons it took so long for me to vote on Saturday - the lady working the computer and checking IDs had to have been 80 years old. Toby said that he had to present his driver's license, too. As the lady looked over his DL, Toby said, "I bet you just want to see how much I weigh." He caused all the ladies to giggle. Then one of the ladies said, "My goal in life is to weigh within 40 pounds of what it says on my DL."

    1. It was all lil ol' ladies at my polling place, too. It looked like the election authorities raided the senior center for its poll workers.

  8. Now Buck, be nice! One of those little old ladies where you voted is my mother in law! Lol!
