The Long Road Back

The holidays sure were hard on traffic.  I guess I'm just a water-cooler friend (with certain exceptions, and you know who you are)... but I'm glad all y'all are back to "work."  Heh.

  1. It looks extreme until you realize the lowest number available in the graph is 175.

    1. Yup... lies, damned lies, and stats!

    2. I can quote stats all day and never feel an instance of guilt ;-)

  3. Holidays are tough on Net surfing and blog reading. And you did mention that you would be gone. I ran by the computer when I could and looked longingly at it.

    1. Yup... I was gone, and posting suffered because of that. Good point.

  4. I was bummed until I read Uncle Skip's first comment. 175 is the lowest the graph goes. I get 175 on a really good day. But then again I am new to the blogging biz. FWIW you're a regular stop in my daily routine Buck. If I can get to a computer, I check EIP. Just sayin'...

    1. You don't wanna know what my traffic was like the first couple o' years, Sarge. I was THRILLED the first time I got a hundred visits in a day... and that wasn't until a couple o' years in.

I remember the day Lex got his millionth visitor... and over 100 comments from folks congratulating him on the achievement. He got more hits in a day than I have in any given month since I've been blogging.

  5. Well, Buck, I guess your rep as a Misanthropic SOB is finally getting around, lol Now if you'd only showered those trick or treaters with candy...I'd say that as Christmas season is approaching you could redeem yourself by growing a beard and playing Santa, but you'd never make the weight in time, so there goes THAT option back to blogging "respectability." lol

    1. Heh. I'm working on both the beard and the weight, as we speak.

  6. PS re "making the weight" It'd be fun trying, tho, just spend two wks in N.O eating EVERYTHING, lol

  7. I never miss a post, but I read you in Google Reader. RSS forever!

  8. Like OldAFSarge says above, your low is my high. But I'm glad you're traffic is back up again. And I think you're right about the holiday factor driving down your visits. But in my role as Carnack the Blog Seer, I do see another dip in the future. Sometime around the 25th of this month. Heh. Provided we make it through that hazy uncertainty on 12.12.12. :-)

    1. "you're" = "your" above in "But I'm glad...." My bad.

    2. Ooooh. I'd forgotten about the Mayan Apocalypse, even though Andy does his best to keep reminding me. Your traffic will go up, Dan. Like Sarge, you've not been at this thing long... but quality always gets results.

    3. Cross-pollination my friends. Just added Dapper Dan's Cumberland Post to my Reading List over at my place. Paid a visit, liked what I saw. Do Dan, your hits will go up by one at least, just doin' my bit for America!

That Mayan Apocalypse? Makes me glad I'm not a Mayan. Just sayin'...

    4. Meant to say "So Dan" not "Do Dan". My typing skills seem to deteriorate more every day. I gotta keyboard apocalypse going on over here!

    5. Dan's one o' the Good Guys, Sarge.

    6. Thanks, Sarge. I'll be adding your blog to my reading list straightaway. And thanks to you too, Buck.

Hey, did I get the end of days date wrong above? Is it 12.12.12 or 12.21.12? The latter would give us an extra nine days of...shopping. Either way I'm opening my presents early to beat both dates. :-)

    7. Google sez the end is 12.21.2012. That makes me feel better. ;-)

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
