It began raining last night and has continued doin' it all day today. I might have mentioned this before, but rain here on The High Plains o' New Mexico usually only lasts for ten or 15 minutes and then it's gone with the wind (heh). Cloudbursts, in other words. Today the sky is leaden gray from horizon to horizon and we're gettin' light-to-medium steady rain. And I mean steady, as in hardly moving along at all. Our radar:
Different. And GOOD.
It was 98°F, 97°F yesterday, 96°F Tuesday, and it's gonna be somewhere around 98°F today. Oh yeah, and some clown started another fire nearby. Our weather radar's showing stuff that never hits the ground because the air's so dry.
ReplyDeleteYou have NOT had a good summer, environmentally speaking.
DeleteYeah, the smoke sucks, otherwise it's not been so bad.
DeleteYesterday was something like 97. Today it is in the 60's with a steady rain. I can live with that. All next week is suppose to be in the 80's. Ahh, so nice!
ReplyDeleteOur forecast for the next week looks pretty good, too.
DeleteEven a little steady rain is like a 'frog drowner" elsewhere in the US in your high plains desert environs, Buck. Flash-floods are easy to come by even after a "gentle" rain. Your place on high-ground, Buck? lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm on relatively high ground... but I've posted pictures of the 17th Street Canal and Intra-City Waterway... which causes some MINOR alarm after a good rain.
