Today's Happy Hour Soundtrack...

... comes courtesy of Occasional Reader Loosy-Anna Andy who e-mailed us this:

In so doing he said...
Dude, I hope the BeeGees deal don't make you vomick!

But...

Looking at Rita is worth it for me.
Ab-so-frickin'-loot-ly.  I replied thusly:
Brilliant... and this shall be today's Happy Hour Soundtrack.  As far as the Bee Gees go... I'm one of only six living Americans who will admit to buying the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack.  That album was pure GOLD to the young Buck Pennington, in that it helped him get laid on numerous occasions in the way-way-back.  How Deep Is YOUR love?  Mine ran pretty deep back then... at least as far as quantity went.  :-)

Thank Ya!!
I stand by that statement, for better or worse.

  2. BTW, I'm not an "Occasional Reader."

Just an occasional commenter these days.

    Dang! Rita was HOT!

  3. Made the BeeGees tolerable for a few minutes, that did. Other than that, it made my knee ache a little, and gave me a mile-wide smile. Those people sure could dance.

    1. I grew up on stuff like that... my Mom was a big, BIG fan of Hollywood musicals when I was a kid. And I was dragged to every one of 'em. I got culcha, whether I wanted it or NOT.

    2. You and me both, Buck.

But, I was a fan of Hollywood musicals because when I came along in life, ALL of the late night movies were in that ilk. Man...did I ever love me some Gene Kelley, Fred Astaire, Bing, too.

Mom and Dad would konk out early because Daddy had to open up the Appliance & TV Store at roughly 0730 HRS, and Daddy had to sleep some time ya' know.

Us kids had a Black & White Westinghouse TV in our bedroom (with rabbit ears screwed to it...tinfoil wrapped around the rabbit ears, too...I mean, TRULY devoted to the period), and we'd stay up LATE watching KTBS, and "The Late Movie." It was almost always a movie/musical that KTBS showed.

      Dang...

      Rita was hot.

Dang. You were privileged! We had ONE teevee in the house when I was a kid, up until the time I left home, and it was black & white. That was when we HAD a teevee... we went five years without one while we were overseas (between my eighth and 13th years).

And yeah... Rita was hot. So was Marilyn.

  4. Love me some Rita13 July, 2012 02:50

I never much cared for dancing movies, so I really didn't know who Rita Hayworth was, until I saw her in an interview on television, and pow, she was so frickin normal. The young stars could read her biography and watch her off-stage and learn a lot. I think she was giggling and laughing her whole life.

I don't remember any music being required for shag activities in my youth. I just remember being taken advantage of, and not minding it too much.

    1. Well, I just read her bio, and maybe you couldn't learn anything. I only saw her when she was lucid :-)

    2. Heh on the lucid bit. Her bio, though, is pretty sad reading.

  5. Great video. Rita was indeed a supreme Babe. But remember; Even Frank got sick and tired of her after a bit.

  6. Buck - perhaps you need to make that 7 living Americans who purchased the SNF soundtrack. I'm one of them for sure. Great stuff.

  7. After living in NM without much TV to speak of, we got a big-ass satellite that got all sorts of channels. The old movie channels were a favorite. Jesse and I used dance and sing all over the house. Great stuff.

  8. Finally getting to see the vid (blocked at work). I love how Rita kept up with Fred & Gene and made it all look so - easy.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
