... in part. Rod Stewart (and Faces), before he turned into a lounge-lizard.
Yea I'll pay your cab fare homeI liked the OLD Rod a whole helluva lot better than the New Rod. But, Hell... we ALL get older.
You can even use my best cologne
Just don't be here in the morning when I wake up
The Faces-era Rod Stewart, and immediately thereafter, is Good Shit.
ReplyDeleteYou and me, Barry. You and me!
Delete1971 was pretty sad musically. Started out with "My Sweet Lord", passed through Donny Osmond, and ended with "Brand New Key". Can't say I contributed anything to their millionaire coffers at the juke box I sat next to.
ReplyDeleteI think it was pretty damned good, actually, except for that Deutschendorf guy at #8. Brown Sugar, Just My Imagination, Tired of Bein' Alone, and many, many more from '71 are in my music collection.
DeleteI thought a lounge lizard was a teacher who hung out in the teacher's lounge. I do like Rod - anytime.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Lou. I like the old Rod, and the growed up one, too.
ReplyDeleteI think his best one is 'My Heart Can't Tell Me No'. Gets to me every time.
ReplyDeleteLou, Deb, and Andy: Meh.
ReplyDeleteI like the old and new Rod. That said - given a choice I will take the old Rod first.
ReplyDeleteThe Faces were a great group, vastly underrated for the most part even with Stewart and Wood in the mix.
