Heh

Just because I didn't post on that dumb-ass "Julia" thang when everyone and their Mom was doin' it doesn't mean I wasn't aware of the brouhaha.  The dust still hasn't settled on that particular piece o' stoopid and prolly won't for quite sometime.  David Burge had the BEST piece on the subject, for my money.  It's here, just in case ya missed it.

―:☺:―

In other news... it's another one of THOSE days.  I'm about to pour my second cup at 1400 hrs and I hate it when that happens, mainly coz half the day is over before I've even begun.  AND that means Happy Hour will be shorter... or later... than usual.

But, Hey!  It is what it is.  If I wanna stay up until oh-dark-thirty and sleep until 1300 hrs, I most certainly will.

  1. I know you've been a Ramirez fan for awhile...times like this, I wish you were signed up over on Hello Kitty, because this thing has been rocketing around there and rightly so.

He's always good, but he's really outdone himself here. Captures the whole absurd mindset beautifully. Only question remaining unsettled: WTH???

    1. I've thought about re-activating my FB account of late, but only so's I could join the "secret" Lex Memorial page. But I detest that app SO much that I haven't moved beyond the "thinking" phase.

  2. I missed the David Burge piece; thanks for pointing me to it. Dear Lord help us, Burge got it perfectly!

I love the last line "...it's time to report to the Community Garden...Your benefits are over there, by the trench, Julia." Shades of Soylent Green.

You know where I work, Buck...every day is "Julia" day. *Gaah*

  4. A young 21 year old woman I know recently divorced and has a two year old child. She moved in with her parents for the time being. The parents have a large home with lots of space. Her mom is willing to babysit and put the young woman through beauty school and help in all sorts of ways. The young woman will get child support, of course. But the young woman does not want the stigma of being 21 and living at home with parents. Instead, she is looking for all sorts of government assistance - wants the government to pay for beauty school and housing, etc. She wants her ex to pay for day care and other child costs.

I thought it very ironic that she had no compunction about living off the government, but did not want to take help from her parents - what would people think?! It is the way the younger generation thinks.

  5. Buck - get back on FB. There is lots of great stuff going on at the Memorial Page; oodles of plane pr0n, great sea and war stories, politics and general stuff too. We've become a tight group of real friends now; it's not a complete circle w/out you.
