Austerity, my ass.  I have a feeling we... as in the American people... ain't gonna like the way this debt ceiling Kabuki play ends.

    I think the Tea party shot their wad, and to coin another phrase: their limpness is showing now.

    Republicans have become so fractured, that even in a majority they can't rally their members on a veto-proof bill.

    I am rather shocked, as I heard they had a killer bill in work since January. Then come to find out they had nothing to deliver.

    The only way forward now, is to throw them all out. I ain't voting for any incumbent. If your name is Joe Smith, and you just got off the bus, you can run and I will vote for you.

    There's a lot of people who think $178k is a lot of money, and will gladly go to Washington.

    Yeah, I dunno what the endgame on this is. But...

    After the gov't crying "the end is nigh!" over so many issues, people simply aren't taking them so seriously anymore.

    All your points are well-taken, Anon and Inno. I'm a little bit pissed at the Tea Partiers at the moment. Standing on principle is a good thing but not when it involves national suicide. We shall see what we see.
