Verizon

Ya know those ads you love to hate?  Well, this ISN'T one of those:

That ad makes me smile, especially the way Lil Susie is dressed.  And the VCs.  Heh.

OK, that one is cool... and it's 180 degrees out of the overplayed and f*cking clue-FREE Verizon hockey-themed ads.  Like this.  And this:

"Ovechtrick," my ass.  I gotchyer Ovechtrick, Verizon... right here.  Stick to what you know and stay the hell away from hockey, mmm-kay?  Coz these things ain't cute, they're just annoying.

  1. We love this ad. It's one of the few ads I've seen numerous times and have not gotten tired of. It came on while visiting my parents and my mom said, "Oh, I love this one." She likes the scene where Susie and her "secretary" are rushing by. Amazing how they could fit so much in so short a time. A whole cleverly detailed story flashes by in 32 seconds! Well done.

Was that a motion? I'll second it and call for the question.

  3. I guess Verizon wanted sponsorship like Sprint has with NASCAR - you know dominate a sport with their Name. And I hate the Versus/NBC coverage, while the Flyers were getting their ass handed to them by the Bruins their games were carried by Versus and it was like getting salt shoved deep into the open chest wound!

    BT: Jimmy T sends.

  4. Don't like those hockey ads at all.

The first one? Cute, charming. I daresay the assertiveness and pseudo-masculine dress of a young female will have one of your readers in disagreement with your appreciation of the commercial.

True! I think that's how ALL the best ads are done. Seein' clever writing and execution like this makes me all the more intolerant of the really BAD stuff out there...

Skip: I'm thinkin' any vote would be unanimous... if we HAD a vote.

Jimmy: You ain't alone with your feelin's about Versus. I am SO sick of Roenick...

Heh. "Stand by for incoming DISSERTATIONS!"

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
