Today's Happy Hour Soundtrack

Five For Fighting...

There are a lot of reasons to like this song... not the least of which is the group's hockey-derived name (heh)... but I particularly like the sentiments expressed herein.  OTOH, I'm left thinkin' that I can only WISH I had a hundred years to live.  Reality is something other than this and reality is quite the bitch.  But we shall live for the moment, eh?

Still.  We're in for a refill and we're enjoying our first al fresco Happy Hour in quite a long time, as the wind finally ceased and desisted after WELL over a week of huffin' and puffin' and attempting to blow our house down.  We ARE taking advantage as a result of the temporary becalming, for t'is the nicest of nice days here on The High Plains of New Mexico.  Witness:

Yup.  Life is GOOD and now it's back outside to continue as we've begun: there's lotsa Newcastle Brown Ale in the fridge and Drew Estate Red Eyes in the humidor.

  1. I'm holding my baby boy right now with that hundred years thing playing. All I can think is "A hundred years? I sure do hope so,"

  2. And with 45 minutes 'til the puck drops, I say I am pulling for Tampa Bay, but I'm picking Boston in this one for a reason named Tim Thomas. I just don't trust Rollie the Goalie to keep it up for the Bolts.

Well, lemmee say this about that: 60+ years has been sufficient. It's prolly not enough, but it is sufficient.

We're just in from The Great Outdoors, we've switched on the teevee and we're waiting for the puck drop. I'm voting with my heart: Yzerbolts in six. :-)

  5. THAT was surprising, indeed. We'll see what else happens here. Mebbe it was just a momentary lapse.

  6. The morning started off rather cool here in OK, which was nice, but the wind has been whipping us about today. I'm so very tired of it. I'm glad you had a good happy hour.

  7. I'm with you on the "live for the moment idea." I believe as we get older, we plan for (hope for?) less. And living for the moment makes a lot of sense, a lot more than it does when you're 22 or 33 or 45.

I like this song very much. I'm sending it to my GSN4 who is right now 15.

  8. We got to enjoy an al fresco happy hour yesterday, too! Mid seventies, low(for us) humidity. And in mid May!! Maybe this portends a mild summer! Nah -- I'm probably dreaming.

  9. Lou: Today looks like a carbon copy of yesterday, so far. Mebbe the wind will dies down in OK today. Hopefully.

Dan: My one and only grandson is 14, so I'm hopin' he picks up on this, too. It's such a great sentiment. (A disclaimer, to avoid gettin' my Old Ass in trouble: great-grandsons don't count for music purposes, at the moment. It's an age thang.)

    Nah -- I'm probably dreaming.

I have to agree, Moogie, knowing your WX/climate as I do. But make hay while the sun shines, yadda, yadda!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
