Are the Thrashers moving to Winnipeg? It's all up in the air right now but speaking from an admittedly and strictly personal perspective I certainly hope so. I have nothing against Atlanta but I would DEARLY love to see the NHL re-align the conferences, which would be a certainty if the Thrashers move to the Great White Up. Here's Mr. Wyshynski on that subject:
• Obviously, if the Thrashers move, the next skate to drop will be realignment. Here's a take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings and Nashville Predators, and which team could be headed back East should Atlanta leave: "One could make a case that the conferences are more about time zones than pure geography. For Columbus and Detroit, being the two Eastern Time Zone clubs in the Western Conference means playing 30-plus road games out of time zone, including eight games that are three time zones away. That makes for lots of 10:30 starts, which can be difficult for non-vampires. Nashville, in the Central Time Zone, never plays a road game that starts after 9:30 p.m. local time." [Puck-Rakers]Leave the Blue Jackets in Columbus and move Dee-troit, please. The Jackets are about 60 years away from bein' any kind of contender while the travel schedule just KILLS the Wings, year after year after year. And just think: I could get back to REALLY hatin' on those Leafs. Win-win.

ReplyDeleteYeeaaaaahhh. All those terrible, unsuccessful seasons. It -sob- has been -sob- so hard!
Well, that's a left-handed compliment if I ever heard one. You just don't want to lose your hate-object, do ya? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be an Avs fan if I had any directly kind things to say about the Wings.
ReplyDeleteBein' an Avs fan is pretty hard these days. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteYep, it's own kind of insult, all the time. We're getting there. At least we have commitment from management (and a new hire named Sakic, or something like that) that a #1 goalie is top priority this off-season. Let's hope they come up with something good, because the free agent market for netminders doesn't look great.
ReplyDeleteYou should go after Brzgalov. I hear he'll be available. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd let's hope that other #19 is as successful in the front office as the Real #19.
Funny stuff the, Buck, on both counts.
ReplyDeleteThing is, Bryz is one of the names in the mill. When you've had our goalies for the last several years, Bryz looks like a Vezina winner. Vokoun is another big name out there. A bit older at 35, but as a stopgap for a few years, he's a goalie who has put up good numbers behind a wretched defense year after year.
*there. Funny stuff there.
ReplyDeleteFunny stuff the(re), Buck, on both counts.
ReplyDeleteSo... do I have a future in stand-up?
Let's hope they go with Bryz. He does good work in the regular season (which will help y'all make the cut) and the Wings OWN his ass in the playoffs.
hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteHi, Buck!
ReplyDeletemarc: Does that mean you approve?
ReplyDeleteMoogie: Hi!
