Happy Mother's Day

I almost never get this right... is it "Mother's" with the apostrophe, or without?  Well, the Wiki sez "with," so that's the way we'll go.  And here's the third fourth annual iteration of our Mom's Day post, in part.

Happy Mother's Day!

Ah…dog poop. Probably one of the (very) minor reasons my second marriage failed…coz The Second Mrs. Pennington was largely in charge of the particularly odious chore— following behind three dogs, including two pretty good-sized ones— let’s say about 90% of it. And she never hesitated to point out that fact to me.

[...]
The Mom’s Day image comes from new-to-me blog TGAW…who has great pics of Glacier National Park, in addition to providing me with this “wouldn’t it be great but it would NEVER frickin’ happen in real life” Mom’s Day illustration. Thanks, TGAW!!

Remind me to write about Glacier…some day.

But, seriously. Happy Mother’s Day to all my favorite Moms, and even to those who aren’t my favorites. I’ll remain cryptic on that last.
Call yer Mom!  Or better yet, give her a big hug and a kiss if you still can.  There comes a time in life when she won't be around, ya know.

    For sure.

  2. What, you're not gonna holler about this commercial holiday, with the jewelry stores and their shameless Mother's Day ads? How you don't need a day to be told that you have to love your mother, that you love your mother every day, thankyewverymuch?

    Mostly joking, of course. Mostly.

  4. Skip: Yeah. There are times when I STILL miss my Mom, and she died in 1964.

    Mostly joking, of course. Mostly.

Unh-hunh. There are Hallmark Holidays and then there are HALLMARK holidays. I like to think I know the difference.

Deb: Mr. Havens is pulling my chain. He takes issue with me taking issue about certain "holidays," chief among them being Valentines Day.

  5. Well see, Andy (Seattle Andy) must not have a Dollar General Store in his 'hood. Mother's Day cards there are 50 cents. Really. Heck, the postage is sometimes more than the card.

I mean, for less than the price of a Baby Ruth, you can tell your Mom that you don't want her to be left out of the mix when it comes to appreshunation.

And, now that we've got cell phones with free long distance, and free nights and weekends, you can call her and talk to her for just as long as you can stand to listen!

She still thinks you're digging deep in your pockets to let her know just how much you care.

Amazing times in which we live...dollar stores & cell phones...a child's best friend.

    My Mom was thrilled.

BTW, Happy Mother's Day, Buck! Do something different today to celebrate. Hey, why don't you have a beer & a cigar!

  6. Ooooops! It just hit me that my buddy Seattle Andy (I'm pretty sure he was named after me) was raggin' you.

    I suck.

  8. I think we're one-uppin'-ya' here. Feels like about 92 right now. Forecast to maybe hit near record high near 95.

    I'm happy now.

  9. Not by much... it's 91 right now with a forecast high o' 94. I'd be pretty happy too, if the danged wind weren't up. There will be no outdoor Happy Hour today since the awning remains furled. (sigh)

  10. Yeah Buck, but at least you get the pleasure of a "dry heat." As you know that's different from "real, humid heat with no wind," which I have truly been praying for.

    I'm happy now.

Just in case you're curious...and you've probably already figured this out...Pam is gone to eat Sushi with #3 son, and visit her Mom. I'm bored to tears, and figured I'd bug my blog buddies until they get sick of me.

I'm pretty sure my work here is done.

  11. You guys are killing me - 53 degrees, gray and sporadically raining. Even my stalwart wife is starting to complain, several times a day, and that just does not happen.

And of course I'm just giving the old man a ration of shit - I figure I can add to it after the Wings lose tonight. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Happy Mother's Day to all for whom it applies!

  12. Happy Mother's Day to all for whom it applies!

Seattle Andy, I shall pass it along to The Mrs. She just got back from stuffing herself with Sushi along with #3 son.

There is a styrofoam box in the refrigerator now. She has a huge smile on her face.

I will pretty soon, too. Just sayin'...

  13. Yeah Buck, but at least you get the pleasure of a "dry heat."

The relative humidity is 4%, as we speak. Not four-oh-forty... FOUR. But it stills feels like 91 degrees.

...53 degrees, gray and sporadically raining.

Ah, the grass is always greener, innit? But in your case that is quite literally true, Andy, as we need rain VERY badly here. I seriously cannot remember the last time it rained.

As for the Wings losing tonight? That is NOT on the program.

L-Andy: Sushi. Ahhhh. Wish to hell I had some...

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
