Down... for almost 24 hours:
Google’s Blogger service has been offline or unreliable for much of the day, with Blogger-hosted blogs changed to read-only mode, and posts and comments made after 7:37 am PT on May 11, 2011, removed.
In a post on the Blogger help forum, the product team said that it had rolled back a scheduled maintenance release from last night and that its “engineers are working hard to return Blogger to normal and restore your posts and comments.”
Google’s reply for a request for comment was, “The team is working on this.” The company has posted some short updates to the Blogger Twitter account and Status blog, but hasn’t yet explained what’s happening, how widespread it is, and what will happen to users’ content.
Blogger had started rolling out its first major redesign in years in April. The team said in a tweet that the outage was not related to launching the new design.
Update: At 6 am Friday Google said Blogger would be “back to normal soon.”
The posts I put up yesterday still haven't been restored and Blogger has only been back for about a half-hour as I type. I also noted that videos have gone missing on the blog as well... all ya see is a "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable" message where the vid should be. So much for putting all yer stuff in the cloud, eh?

Out. That would be my Beloved Wings, who fell JUST short in their comeback quest last evening. I had a very brief e-mail conversation this morning with a friend who said she knew I was "going to wax poetic" about the Wings today. Well, there's this about that:
Ah, the Wings. You'd THINK an adult... Hell, an OLD man... wouldn't get so wrapped up in something so trivial as the fortunes of a hockey team. But I kept hope alive, even as the Sharks iced the puck with something like 00:01.4 on the clock. "Icing! Face off in their zone!" That was me to SN1, who was on the phone for the last two minutes of play. And then time ran out...I still haven't turned the teevee back on. That's about as poetic as it gets today.
I turned the teevee off when the horn sounded, not bein' able to bear the Wonderfulness Of The Sharks from the likes of Versus announcers. SN1 did the same.
I still can't believe they lost. Fucking Neemee. ;-)
I'll be rooting for Vancouver in the Western Conference Finals, not that I really give a Big Rat's Ass. When it comes to the SCF I'll root for whoever wins the East, for the first time in recorded history.
One of my blogbuddies was kind enough to link me yesterday but (for now?) that post ist kaput so I'm extra bummed.
ReplyDeleteAs for hockey, I've just been watching the young'uns in the WHL playoffs 'cuz Portland is in the finals. But they're down 3-1. :(
Well, well! I can finally comment! I was sure the White House had started rounding up us dissidents.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your Beloved.
We're at odds again - I am against the 'Nucks. Division rivals, and all. Plus those creepy twins are just...creepy.
ReplyDeleteI had some problems getting to other peoples' blogger sites, but yours never tripped me up. Sounds like you had problems from your end, though.
I may be a Lightning fan at this point.
I was wondering who would or might root for once the Red Wings got clipped.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to root for a team that beat mine. Yet I can't really jump to rooting for the team that my team would have been facing in the finals either.
I am a big baseball fan, love the game. When my team is out of it, I still end up watching, but it can be tough rooting for both teams to lose, when I really don't think that is possible. At least last I checked, but if I were a liberal I could probably make that happen. ;)
Tough game. I watched the last period and the Red Wingers looked like the far better team, keeping the puck on the scoring end of the ice to a large degree, yet nothing finding the nets.
I have a hard time enjoying Hockey on TV. The puck just doesn't stand out as well to me on TV. In person I can follow the game much better and of course there are the snacks and adult beverages consumed in mass quantities during said games that keeps it even funner. lol.
But they're down 3-1. :(
ReplyDeleteComeback!! ;-)
I was sure the White House had started rounding up us dissidents.
Heh. My FIRST thought yesterday was Blogger had locked me out due to complaints from Sharks fans... you know, sayin' I was runnin' a Spam-Blog or sumthin' worse. I'm actually glad it was just an ordinary, run-o'-the-mill fuckup. ;-)
I may be a Lightning fan at this point.
Now that ya mention it... I WILL be rooting for the Yzerbolts to go all the way. The thought of Stevie Y getting his name on the Cup in his first year as a GM is pretty appealing. I agree with ya on the Sedins, too.
I find it hard to root for a team that beat mine.
I find it impossible. As a matter of fact, I find myself wishing all sorts of evil thoughts about Sharks today, about both hockey players and even their namesake fish. And sometimes the two meet, as in hopin' Marleau's first-born gets eaten by a shark.
I hear ya on the tough game thang, too. The series was the closest I've EVER seen and it could have easily gone the Wings way. I think the Wings were the better team, but the outcome says otherwise. Who knows what eeevil lurks in the hearts of The Hockey Gods?
Growing up here on the West Coast, specifically in the Bay Area, you'd think I'd be pumped about the Sharks advancing. I'm not. The Giants, Niners, and, to some extent, Warriors get my allegiance. I can't get too excited about a team that didn't exist when I moved to the real Northern California. I definitely feel you pain.
ReplyDeletev word = beration
As you know (despite Blogger leaving no evidence of my empathy) I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that Google employees that originally had visions and started with the company, have pretty much all gone.
ReplyDeleteOf course that leaves the junior varsity team, and breaking shit should be pretty much normal until Microsoft buys them out.
Mmm, hot tub, soaking, better than a shower.
Microsoft buys Google? There ain't enough inflated dollars in the Free World for anyone to buy Google, Shower. ;-)
