Back in the late 90's when chat rooms were all the rage, I got in trouble in a "Christian" chat room because I told someone that I didn't believe in the rapture. The chat room police came on and questioned me and I was attacked by all sorts of believers. I stood my ground until they all left the room and then I never went back. While visiting my MIL recently, she had me listen to her TV preacher. The preacher said that the rapture was going to be anytime - any day. Then during the credits, I saw that the episode was produced in 1990 - twenty years ago. I guess they are still waiting.
Jim: I'm afraid your good words won't have much effect. There's no reciprocity among The Deities At Hand, as far as I know.
I guess they are still waiting.
Heh. I was thinkin' about how many times I've heard these "end o' the world" things in my life and lost count. As for your chat room experience... You're a pretty brave woman, Lou, to argue that sorta thing on the inter-tubes.
Andy: And there's been exactly ZERO news outta Oz today, too. Eerie.
Thanks for the linky love, Buck! If I'm taken away tomorrow, and you're not, I'll see if I can put in a good word for you.

There might be something to this rapture deal. I called a friend of mine in Australia, and there was no answer.
ReplyDeleteSpooky.
