Let's Hear It for RYAN!

Representative Ryan gets it.  The easiest way to understand whether Ryan is right or wrong is to look at who opposes what he's tryin' to do, and how hard.  We're talkin' about the usual suspects here... Pelosi and Van Hollen (the Dems' simpering mouthpiece, of late), just to name two.  Both Pelosi and Van Hollen have come out with their same tired ol' moans and groans about budget reform and deficit reduction in the last week... words to the effect the mean ol' GOP is after the children and our Seniors.   And fucking Democrats have the unmitigated GALL to rant about "special interests."

The current sideshow about shutting down the gub'mint over whether we should legislate either a paltry 30 billion dollars or a slightly less paltry 60 billion dollars worth of current expenditure reductions is just a warm up for the REAL fight that's gonna go down during the run-up to 2012.  We all need to fasten our seat belts and get ready for some serious political histrionics from the donkeys, coz it's gonna get real rough out there.  One hopes the serious adults... like Rep. Ryan... will be able to make their case to the American public and prevail in the budget war, but one should also NEVER underestimate the power of demagoguery.  The Dems excel at the latter and it works all too often.

Interesting times.

  1. Hooray for Ryan. And you're so right, Buck, about the Demogogacrats pushing that poor "children" and "seniors" line. I hope those two horses they're riding aren't two of the four horses of the Apocalypse. But it probably wouldn't matter to them--they'd ride them anyway.

  3. What happened to that "hands across the aisle" and "we will all work together" BS the Dems were throwing at us not too lng ago?
The attitude of late seems to be, to Hell with the nation, we are going to play the political games, regardless. If we can only survive two more years of this crap!
    Nuff said.

  4. The thing is Ryan has an uphill battle with Obama and the Senate under Democratic control.

The Congress should pass a law that spending should be under a limit of GDP percentage.

What I like most about Ryan is that he explains it well and can answer questions about it... unlike "you have to pass it to see what's in it".

Some people I talk to think the deficit is the total outlay of money from the government. When I tell them that the 1.6 trillion is the amount OVER the revenue being taken in they look shocked. Don't people in general pay any attention to these things?

  5. The crap about "bi-partisanship" is that it might have one day meant compromise, but now it has evolved into agreeing with what the Democrats want.

The political divide is growing sharper under such "leaders" as Pelosi and Reid and Obama. Teddy Kennedy had been another who pushed for divide rather than agree to anything from the right side of the aisle.

  8. Maybe the Rebuplicans got the message that the people want some serious change. The Dems still don't get it.

  9. Hey, Buck.

I'm working on a project that I'd like you to make a contribution to (not money). Don't want to divulge to much here, but shoot me an email at knuckleheadhumor.com and I'll fill you in.

    Thanks,
    Chris

  11. Ed: Yup!

Anon1: Ryan is goin' for a spending cap, of sorts... that's part of his plan. I agree with you on the uphill fight, but the fight MUST be fought!

Anon2: re: The crap about "bi-partisanship" is that it might have one day meant compromise, but now it has evolved into agreeing with what the Democrats want. The Democrats say the very same thing about Obama. I read that ALL the time in the Fever Swamps.

Anon3: Interesting times, indeed. The Chinese knew what they were on about.

    Lou: Agreed.

    Chris: Thanks.
