It Could Be Worse

So... I was gonna piss and moan about the state of our weather (see above), given as how it's just past noon and we haven't risen above freezing yet.  Note the post title, and Occasional Reader Katy sends along evidence of worse, telling me in part:
We have around 8 inches of snow (almost a foot in Huntsville) & freezing rain all morning - won't get to 32 for several days.  All roads in the Tennessee Valley are considered impassable - jackknifed trucks blocking several major highways.
Aiiieee!  So we're counting our blessings even if we are freezing our ass off.  Relatively speaking.  More "worse," just from a random sampling of headlines on Google News:
Wintry weather brings snow to northeast Texas

Dallas Weather: Snow Cancels DFW Flights

Weather causes flight cancelations in Atlanta

Extreme weather shelters open across the Ozarks

Heavy snow expected in Asheville, Western North Carolina

Winter weather forces SC schools to call off games

Yup.  It could be worse and I'm glad it ain't.  Speaking of worse... I usually post one of these photos when the subject comes up:

Most definitely worse.

  1. We are staring down the pipe at the 3rd storm in less than one week.

Classic n'oreaster coming on Wednesday; predictions are for a foot of snow.

Add that to the 10 inches we now have on the ground.

At least we have the tools necessary to deal with it. Alabama, S.C., Texas - notsomuch.

Heh. I've not ever felt terror quite like the terror one feels when driving in snow and ice in the South. I include Oklahoma in that statement, too. ;-)

  4. It's cold and nasty here today, too.

I'm cooking a pot roast to banish the chill.

  5. Snow is something to drive to, visit, then drive home to somewhere warm.

  6. It is in the mid 30's today, but no snow. I'm hoping to stay above the freezing temp and I will be a happy camper. Actually, you are the camper and I am the house-dweller.

  7. Deb: We have a steady stream coming out of our faucet; unless the park loses water completely... an event out of my control... we should be fine.

    Daph: That sounds delicious.

    Darryl: Agreed!

Lou: But...but... El Casa Móvil De Pennington IS my house! ;-)

  8. If a man's home is his castle, El Casa Movil de Pnennington is your castle. I hope you are snug as a bug, 'cause it is cold tonight.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
