The Morning After

I was up quite late last evening... like after 0200 hrs... watching all the dreck.  And I'm still watching it, as we speak.  Some random observations:
  • Obama's remarks this morning:  He's still not acknowledging his agenda is out of touch with the mainstream.  Nope: Americans are just "frustrated."  He made some appropriately conciliatory "let's work together" statements towards Republicans, but what else COULD he say?  He also acknowledged concern about the deficit and that's a Good Thing, but will he change (sorry)?  I doubt it.  Good words about continuing a moratorium on earmarks, too.  It's the same ol', same ol' re: health care... there's a BIG war brewing here.  Same ol', same ol' on taxes, too.  He seemed to back off on Cap'n'Trade but was wishy-washy on EPA regulation of greenhouse gasses and other "energy" areas... Obama still buys into the whole AGW piece o' crap.  Not a frickin' word... not ONE... on foreign policy.  I found that amazing.  The Q&A was interesting; overall I'd give him a "C," his performance was decidedly average.  I didn't really expect more than he delivered.
  • Taking the House is a GREAT Good Thing; I think we can say Good Riddance to another round of "stimulus;" anything else is up in the air until we hear from the new Speaker.  I'm thinkin' it'll be two years of gridlock and that ain't a bad thing (which is not a new or unique observation).
  • I HATE the fact that I have to look at Boxer and Reid for another six years.  This was last night's worst outcome.
  • Watching the Lame Duck session in the House will be MOST interesting.  People with nothing left to lose do strange, strange things.  Thank The Deity At Hand for the filibuster in the Senate.
  • Teevee coverage:  I give CNN the nod for best coverage, surprisingly.  Their analysis was more in depth and their graphics presentation was world-class.  Wolf Blitzer is STILL an asshat and so is Anderson Cooper and Donna Brazile (among others), but overall?  Their coverage was better than anyone else's, FNC included, and MOST especially after 0300 hrs EDT... Fox's B-Team was horrid.  MS-NBC was good for a few laughs but interesting only to serious moonbats.  I prolly watched about 15 minutes (at the most) of MS-NBC.  One can only take so much of Olby, Matthews, and the oh-so-precious Maddow.
 Enough of this crap.

Today's Teh Stoopid, from an Amazon marketing e-mail:

Yeah... I wanna be a Facebook fan of a frickin' machine.  Right.

Ooh. Scary, scary thought. Scary, scary accurate thought.

We mainly watched FoxBusiness. I really like Cavuto .

I just cannot make myself think about Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews' voice has started having an Obama/Pelosi-like effect on me -- cringe-invoking.

All in all, a good night.

  2. Ya know, I never even thought about Fox Bid'niz. I prolly should have, coz some of the asinine banter on CNN grew quite grating, quite fast. And agreed on the "good night" bits. I went to sleep a reasonably happy camper.

  4. Buck! Hook me up on FB - and any other conservatives here please. My boss (American) and all colleagues in the US are liberal as hell and its driving me nuts. I need some US conservative friends so we can be snarky.

  6. Ah, I WOULD, A... if I was on Facebook. But I'm not. I dropped out about a year ago. Moogie's on FB, tho! Y'all need to talk...

  7. Alison - pick me pick me! I'm on FB. Send me an email and I'll give you my full name for it!

Buck - my boss stayed up all night long watching it all. He said MSNBC was what he choose to watch for the humor in it; he said watching them all squirm was the best entertainment he'd seen in months.

You and he are braver than I can ever be. That is one serious fever swamp.

  8. And your boss is a FAR better man than I, Kris. Or just crazier. I watched what little I did for exactly the same reasons: humor and schadenfreude. But I got bored with it very quickly.

  9. Well, you are a fan of Chevys.

    Just sayin'...

Well, there's my non sequitur for the day. Hunh?

  11. Well, I thought it was pretty relevant at the time...I mean, with you talking about how ridiculous it was to be a fan of a machine on The Facebook, and all.

At the time it seemed pretty clever. Now...not so much.

  13. Watched FNC on n intermittent basis. Was waiting for California. And did a lot of stuff on Face Book with my multitude of friends.
Sad for Carly. But the situation is good as to frustrate ole Call me Senator Babbling Babs. I did not vote for either Meg or Moonbeam McMaggott Brown. I remember. I did third party. Conscience vote, maybe. I went with the AIP, Chelene Nightingale. Read up on her. Close match on the issues and values.
But I do know that a certain VC-32A in the 89th at Andrews will not get worn out so fast anymore. Were I Pro Super or Flight Chief, she gets the little jets that need about three stops to the Bay Area.
And the surgery went well. And yes, it does hurt. The Missus went to the RX place to get my Vicodin!

  14. Get better soon, Glenn. I hope the Vicodin helps.

  15. My FB friends talk sports and grandkids, but not so much politics - thank goodness.

  16. Buck, added to your comments on Election night was the very good news here in New Mexico that we have just elected a FANTASTIC woman (Susana Martinez) as our governor, and another impressive Republican woman (Dianna Duran) who will be replacing our corrupt Secretary of State. And ... the GOP picked up 8 seats in the state legislature, reducing the Democrat stone wall just a little bit. Maybe there is hope for our state with these new people in office.

I NEVER watch MSNBC -- or CNN for that matter - not good for my health. I was happy with the coverage on FNC.

I am one of those old-fashioned people who has no use for a Kindle. I like the feel of a good book in my hands.

Alison, no one is more conservative than I am... LOL. Send me an email with your Facebook name and I will send you a friend request: I'm at towanda1946@yahoo.com
