Go Air Force! Beat Canoe U!
Update, 1325 hrs: Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the JCS, is in the Versus broadcast booth chatting with the announcers. His lead-off assertion: he's not rooting for either team (coz he's the Chairman, yanno?). Far be it from me to call a (Flag) officer and a gentleman a LIAR... but...
Air Force 7, Navy 0... with Navy threatening six minutes into the second quarter.
Update, 1521 hrs: Navy's seven game streak over AF is ENDED. AF 14, Navy 6. YAY TEAM!!!

Wow! What a happy hour!
ReplyDeleteAt my Navy friends' houses on the other hand . . . .
Do you think Army might stand a chance against them this year?!?!
OU beat TU today. It is too bad they both couldn't lose.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Army stands a chance against either AF or Navy. Army lost to Temple today, who lost to Penn State... JoPa's team ain't exactly a powerhouse even tho they're ranked.
But yeah: we WERE doin' the Happy Dance this afternoon. I'm pissed right now, tho... ND can't be found anywhere on my teevee and they're beating BC pretty handily.
Lou: Heh. My thoughts EXACTLY, but more so about OU than Texas.
Games between the service academies fall into the "feh" category for me. My career left me with a rather dim view of the product the Naval Academy churns out. Too few of them are of the caliber that our Lex is. (or maybe the Submarine Force just got the sorry sacks.)
ReplyDeleteHope I'm not being a wet blanket, here.

ReplyDeleteI had the same sort of experience with AFA grads, BR. Ring-knockers don't impress me much, Lex being the exception that (sorta) proves the rule.
But I still like the football games... I consider that a whole 'nuther thang.
Proof that anything can happen...
ReplyDeleteHeh. This is just like it used to be, and I quote:
ReplyDeleteQuote First: For two decades, Air Force dominated service-academy football, winning the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy 17 of 21 times from 1982 to 2002.
Quote Second: The trophy has been awarded to Air Force 16 times, Navy 10 times, and Army 6 times, with 4 ties.
Getting back to normal is GOOD.
