Sushi...

...it's what's for lunch.

Round One

Round Two

Note Round One is completely gone... every last tasty morsel consumed by YrHmblScrb, and him alone.  Sushi is what's for dinner, too, seeing as how I couldn't eat it all.  I made the mistake of thinking Grandson Sean would like sushi as much as I do, and I ordered about twice as much as I would eat.  Well, I was wrong on a couple of levels.  Capital "W" wrong.  Today was Sean's first sushi encounter and he did NOT like it.  At all.  I'd bet good money today will be his first and last such experience... at least for the foreseeable future.

  1. I'm almost sorry I read the words. I was SOOOO impressed that Sean was partaking of sushi seeing as how my grandkids won't touch anything that isn't pizza or processed to death! I think I'll just pretend that Sean was glomming down the morsels with gusto and tell myself that there is hope out there.

Good to see you putting away the groceries!!

  3. Moogie: All we can ask is for them to TRY it. The types that get my goat are the ones that go "Ewwww" without even having tasted it... it meaning anything... even once. Full marks to Sean in that he sampled everything.

    Lou: More for me, Sweetie!

  4. Dangit, Buck! Dangit!

I held on to a screenshot of a word verification from a comment on your very blog for months...just waiting for the right time to use it.

It was "Suchi." I was gonna make some smart tailed observation about Terry Bradshaw's (a fellow Shreveport/Bossierite, btw) old commercial..."Suchi? We call that bait!"

I finally sent it to the recycle bin about a week ago while cleaning up old "well, I'll never use this" stuff.

    Dangit!

Oh wait...I did save it. Never mind.

  5. Yep... I winced every time I saw that ad with Bradshaw in it... wasn't that for Miller Lie or some other equally worthless product?

Like that ol' sayin' about bein' "country before country was cool," I acquired my taste for "bait" way back around 1968 during my first tour in Nippon. I've been a fan ever since.

  6. Buck, LOL! I can't remember what the ad was for. Could have been for peanut butter, or dang near anything.

But, TB is such a hick, hayseed, and homer of these parts that I've gotta mention him from time to time.

Actually, the inner loop around Shreveport is named "Terry Bradshaw Passway." I've got a good story about that one, too...

  8. Oh man, I check in to see how the adventure goes and I'm greeted with this. Now I'm hungry. Looks like it'll be a Mexican sushi roll this morning a.k.a. the breakfast burrito.

  9. I'm with Lou and Sean. The Oracle would have helped you polish it all off.

  10. Got me a hunger for some sushi now. That's some good looking stuff.

  11. Hmmm... it appears it's sushi FOR THE WIN: four for, three against, one abstention (unless you take the bait reference as a "no"). Sushi wins bigger if'n you add in my vote.

  12. You may even be able to count mine double - I am a freak for the fish.

  13. NO! Ick. Ewwww. NO!!

I mean, no, thank you, I don't care for it.

(Where's those stickers you put on stuff -- the Mr. Yuk face -- that's what I need for here!!)

  14. Throw me in the Bradshaw category. Bait is bait.

And I've driven the Bradshaw Passway more than once!

  15. Looks like the score is kinda changing as the game is played out.

But, you can register mine as an abstention. I can not speak to the truth of whether I'd enjoy it or not.

I have NEVER tried sushi. It just doesn't look appetizing to me, even though Pam and my boys all love it.

  16. Buck, I have tried Sushi and I said "EWWWW." Actually I said something else which I won't say here, this being a family type blog and all. And in a reversal to your situation, my grandson Brent (14) loves the stuff. Go figure.

  17. Well, comments keep rolling in and the sushi-eaters are decidedly in the minority now. But Hey! This IS America and not Nippon. I still love the stuff, tho.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
