OMG

The Dow is down 350 400 500 670 800 points (updated in three minute increments...) as we speak, the NASDAQ is down 100 200+.  Those frickin' Greeks...

Are you watching, Mr. President?  You better be.

1252 hrs:  Slight rebound, down 500 now.

Update later that same day:  So.  Not as bad as it was... down 348 at the close.  In this same vein... a tweet from Mr. Lileks:
Lileks: Hey, Greece? Thanks for philosophy and Doric columns and stuff, but could you get it 2gether? kthnxbai  #dowjonesdeath

  1. News is reporting that some broker made a big mistake and sold several "billion" shares of P&G, instead of several "million." That, along with the turmoil within every living human with a brain started the landslide.

Dunno. My cynical mind tends to believe that SOMEBODY that is SOMEBODY was going short on P&G.

    But, what do I know?

  2. The Government is not supposed to be a Back Stop for the Fracking Wealthy as they plunder banks and pension funds for the shareholder's benefit.

P.S. Gubmint; Quit trying to play on the working man's side while taking campaign contributions from those who live in McMansions.

Especially you so-called Community Organizers who live in gated communities.

I'm angry that I don't get the proper channels on my Direct TV to watch the Red Wings. So I am acting out!

Ummm...if you're a fan, you might want to thank your lucky stars.

  4. Buck, Seems to me the Greeks of today weren't bearing gifts. They were expecting gifts. They've been on Euro welfare so long they've forgotten that you do eventually have to pay the Fiddler.

  6. Andy: It seems like that typo wasn't the whole story, but it's murky... at best. And as far as the Beloved Wings go... they looked great last night.

    Darryl: I hear ya.

    Jim: Heh!

Dan: I see a portent of things to come in the Greek situation. Maybe not riots and such, but definite hard times if the gub'mint doesn't reverse this spending binge they're on.

Moogie: re: the wedding. Sounds like proper planning to me!
