Ups and Downs

Well... mostly all downs, as it were.  We got nuthin' today and I don't feel like rantin' about that national handbasket we're all in, headin' for that hottest of hot places.  That gets old after a while and aside from feelin' like I'm preachin' to the choir, what earthly good does the rantin' actually do?  It doesn't even give me a feelin' of release any longer; it's just pointless venting.  That asshat socialist will still be in the White House tomorrow morning, Harry Reid will be as clueless as ever, Nancy Pelosi will still be living in some sort of alternative universe, and Joe Biden will still be eating shoe leather for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Not that the clue-impaired Republicans are any better, with the possible exception of Mr. Gingrich... who is one of the few bright spots in our political sky.  Other than that?  It's frickin' cloudy with thundershowers... constantly.

Speaking of...

Yep.  We've had a good run the last few days, what with moderate Spring-like temps and bright sunshine.  Not so much today.  There's an outside chance we'll take Happy Hour on the verandah this afternoon, but only an outside chance.  There has been the occasional pitty-patting of isolated raindrops on my roof during the last hour... but nothing monsoonal, or anything.  At least it's warm, eh?

Finally... the last "down:"

Was it something I said?

  1. It's maybe just the fact of we're all OUTSIDE!!! Soooo nice out today. So besides working (grrr!) I also started some of the yard clean-up. The snow is almost(!!) all melted and now you can see the damages.

Besides sticks and small branches, my solar lights got buried and it broke the stakes that hold them. And the bushes out front are for sure going to need some extra TLC.

    But the daffodils are up.

Buck, do you have an awning over your patio so you can be out in semi-rain?

(Plus I have to be prepared for March Madness, too. ACC!)

    my word is "dipsta"

  2. Thanks, Moogie... see the next installment.

Kath: Yep... we do have an awning and we most certainly DO sit outside in the gentle rain under said awning when we can. That is MOST relaxing, too.

Our daffodils haven't appeared yet... and we are awaiting that event with baited breath.

  3. I think Kath is right. It's just too dang gorgeous to be clicking on a keyboard.

Only the true choir members are out there listening to the preacher. My traffic has had a spike...but if you take out the obvious reason for it...it's WAY down. Comments are down...it certainly has nothing to do with the piss-poor level of mediocrity I've been hitting lately...couldn't be that.

I think it's the nice weather. Yeah! That's it.

  4. Buck - I hear ya about the downs and the feeling that nothing we say will change the disaster that is waiting for this country around the next corner.

And it has ever been thus - hasn't it.

Beautiful day here today - low 50s, bright sun. We spent the day at our full-size sanctuary - the beach. Right now we are both freezing and we've been home for a coupla hours. Caught a right-good chill - and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

  5. We have had some good days, but it was drizzle all day Sunday. Jesse rode her new bike and got it stuck in the mud again. I think she took pics this time. But at least it was warm :)

  6. As previous commenters have noted, it might just be the weather. We had a good weekend up here in the PacNW.

Regarding the handbasket ride, I hear you loud and clear. I occasionally let my political hair down over at my blog, but I beginning to think, feh!! What good will it do? I think all it really does it get my blood pressure up to no avail.

I know that eventually our country will be allright. It just isn't going to happen overnight.

  7. OK... we'll go with "weather," LOL!

I'm still an optimistic sort where the political crap is concerned, as well. I DO tire of the incessant pissing and moaning, tho... which reminds me of the fairy tale about the boy who cried "wolf!" way too often.

  8. I hear ya on that one... not sure why some days spikes in readership and others... not so much. Meh... bloggers are a capricious bunch I guess!? Yeah, let's blame on the weather - easier than saying bloggers are finicky... LOL

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
