End of the first... Russia and Czech Republic tied, 1 - 1. Best announcer comment of the period:
A1: What language are they speaking down there?
A2: Russian on the Russian bench, Czech on the Czech bench, English when they're talking to each other. And it ain't very polite, either.
Heh. Understatement of the day. These guys hate each other!
An intense first period. Intense! Fastest paced period I've seen in these games so far.
Gotta pace myself on the beer... there's a LOT of hockey yet to be played and I wanna be awake for all of it.
Shit! I just went to the Olympics web site and NBC's feed is delayed by at least an hour... the web site shows Russia up 3 - 1, in the third period. NBC's feed has the second period just barely beginning. I frickin' HATE the NBC asshats. HATE 'em!
Update 1, 1455 hrs: Changed channels from ABQ to Amarillo, which has the game in real-time. So, check that: I hate the asshats of Channel 4 out of ABQ.
Update 2, 1510 hrs: Milan Michalek scores for the Czech Republic, 3 - 2 Russia with a little over four minutes left in the third. Go Czechs!
Update 3, 1520 hrs: Datsyuk scores an empty netter with 12 seconds left, game over.

PACE YERSELF!!! We can't have you down for the count before the REAL game begins!
ReplyDeleteHeh. That I will, KC, that I will. Ain't gonna miss a minute of the next one!
ReplyDeleteToo tough going up against Ovechkin and Malkin, Too bad.
ReplyDeleteU.S. v. Canada next.
1980 retrospective.
I was at the press conference at the Omni in Atlanta when the Flames announced that they'd signed Jim Craig.
It's just pretty cool watching the retrospective, William. I'm likin' it a LOT.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
ReplyDeleteAnd a very apt point about that being the only good "where were you when" moment...
At last those new HD channels Comcast gave us is paying off MSNBC HD [Channel 818] is where they've plopped the US v. Canada hockey game.
ReplyDeleteSigh. My backwater Comcast franchise has VERY few HD channels, and MSNBC ain't one of 'em. DANG.
ReplyDeleteGet to Brodeur early. That's good.
ReplyDeleteI got a new post up for this game, William... wherein I said: "Brodeur likes to play the puck a lot... I say that's gonna bite 'em."
ReplyDeleteBummer...I was really hoping the Czech's would pull that one out.
ReplyDeleteMe too, BR.
