Guaranteed to Make Ya Feel Small

This vid has the most amazing graphics when viewed full-screen in HD. And it discusses "things" that few of us can even begin to comprehend, given the distances and mind-boggling numbers involved. Yet still... aren't you glad such information exists and can be freely had, just for the looking? I find this sort of stuff SO much more enlightening and entertaining than the freaking health-care brouhaha. YMMV, of course.

  1. I don't know how many times I have said this but NASA gets too few dollars. We need way more space research manned and unmanned.

    BT: Jimmy T sends.

  2. Awesome! Simply awesome!

There's more than enough for every human who ever lived on earth to have one of those of their own. I think one day that will happen! It's all out there for some reason, so why not that!?

  3. That...is...amazing. And, yes, I do feel small. So many of us sit, smug in our self importance, when in fact, in the BIG scheme of things, we are nothing.

And I agree with Jimmy T. Expansion into space is the future of our species, and we need to start the legwork now.

  4. Very awesome and beautiful. There is a part of me that sometimes has doubts - if scientists cannot agree on things here on earth like how it was created, evolution, global warming, etc, - if I do not believe everything they tell me here - how can I be sure they know what they are talking about out in space?

  5. That was awesome. That word is overuse these days but fits here perfectly.

  6. Jimmy: I agree with you about the NASA budget, which has ALWAYS been a source of contention and never more so than lately. I believe the money is well-spent and a great culture that has the wherewithal for space exploration is almost morally obligated to do so.

Mushy: I dunno if we'll all get our very own Hubbles... but I enjoy the extensive fruits that are "out there" for the picking on these here inter-tubes.

BR: That "feeling small" feeling is almost worth a post of its own. I'm certain there's not a soul among us who never laid in the grass at night and stared into the sky, marveling at the billions of stars. And similar.

Lou: Science is all about theory... positing it, arguing about it, examining the evidence. And that is what I find fascinating, both in the past and in the present... but most especially where space is concerned. And there's an incredible amount of beauty to be enjoyed along the way.

Alison: Yup: awesome is overused in this day, but fits completely in this space (ahem). :D

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
