Things ARE Different in the Military These Days

You've seen this... if'n you've been to Lex's house in the last 24 hours or so. But it's TOO good not to share.

Dunno 'bout you, Gentle Reader... but I think there's a message here.

P.S. The comment thread at Lex's is MOST interesting.

  1. Hey Buck!

The difference being people know authenticity and sincerity when they see it. There isn't a false bone in Bush's body, he loves the military and felt deeply responsible and grateful for every single member and their families through the past eight years. I am absolutely sure that every death and serious injury weighed on his heart and caused him many sorrowful nights.

Obama doesn't love or respect the military, not its traditions or its people. He sees it as another tool, not the living entity, made up of our countries finest citizens, that carries on a great tradition of service to the country and protecting our freedoms.

Bush was the real deal. Obama's not.

  2. I agree with you, Daphne. Neither one of us knows Obama, obviously, but you're reading the same tea leaves I am. Still and even... the GREAT thing about the United States military is we will still stand at attention, salute smartly, and obey his orders because, like it or not, Obama is still the CinC. This is one of the biggest reasons I love this country.

  3. Buck you know, that in the military, you have to earn respect to get respect! Obama has a long way to go to get that respect he wants! W may have made mistakes but one thing he did do right was support the troops he commanded and they respected him for it!!

  4. Buck, I'm hoping the military sides with the citizens if things deteriorate to the point where Obama calls them out on the people revolting against congressional outrages.

  5. I'm thinking things will have to get a whole helluva lot worse than they are at the present for that to happen. Forgive me, but I just CANNOT envision that happening... in any way, shape, or form. This is America, not some banana republic.

  6. I wonder if Obama noticed or cared what the military thought.

  7. Lou: I'm sure he did, albeit in the most superficial of ways. There I go: ever the cynic.

  8. Selective editing aside, I think we just witnessed the Marines expressing their opinions of the current and past CINC. Remember, respect is earned, and the current President has not past the test, yet.

Barbara Bush was the sponsor of one of the boats I served aboard, USS Houston. In 1997 she paid us a visit. She was talking with a few of us in the goat locker. She stated that her husband did not miss being the President, but that he missed the men and women of the military. I would suspect that at least some of the respect he held for us was passed down to his son.

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
