News Item

I know all y'all probably saw the news footage of the White House fountains on St. Pat's Day. But just in case you didn't...

I like Mr. Ramirez' idea MUCH better, don't you? "Chicago Politics," indeed. Might as well have appropriate colored water in the fountains, coz the deficit is gonna haunt us for frickin' years and years and years...

Oh, the DEFICIT. Whew. I thought it stood for something else.

  2. You were thinking "Geithner," mebbe, Bec? Heh. THERE'S a blood-letting I'd like to see, personally. Not likely, though. It remains to be seen if The One is as steadfast in his loyalties as Dubya was. That's a two-edged sword, tho, and it hurt President Bush where Rumsfeld was concerned, among others. OT, I know...

  3. The color of government is money. They live it and breath it and spend it quicker than they can make it. They also instill that principle into the citizens of the country. No wonder we are in economic trouble.

  4. Only ONE problem with your thought here, Ash... Gub'mint doesn't EVER "make" money, all they do is take ours away in taxes. And only a VERY small part of that wealth is spent sensibly. Other than that? Spot on!

  5. Are you sure it's actually dye and not the product of opening all us taxpayers' veins?

Actually it was a visceral reaction to the color of a certain economic persuasion.

  7. I don't know whether to laugh or cry... I have mostly the same reaction as Inquiries...there is a somewhat subtle underlying finger pointing at "us" deficit spenders whilst the O admin is spending trillions that they don't have, that they will get from "us" who don't have it either. I can't see how that is going to work out well....

However, my plan is to go on working and consuming to the best of my ability.

  9. I believe I'd rather have them turn the fountains off and spend the saved money by sending it to me. Then I could drive down to Portales and take Buck and others out for a beer.
I see that as better use for the money.
The One will probably give it to some defense contractor who "donated" huge sums to his campaign.

  10. The construction superintendent at work has a sign on his desk that reads: "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money".

This post reminded me of that.

  11. Actually the Federal Reserve System just "made" some more money - which will either be very good or very bad. We will see. Toby is leaning toward the very bad scenario.

  12. Hey Buck, Off Topic;

You doing ok? Haven't seen any of your normally effervescent effluvium soaring through the electronic medium!

(I just wanted to use some fitty cent werds I might never get to use.. I mean it all in good humor)

Seriously, hope you are on the mend and doing fine on this Friday.

  13. Lou: The Fed PRINTED a lot of money but they sure as Hell didn't MAKE it... not as I define "make," anyhoo. But I get your point, loud and clear. It scares the shit out of me, too.

DC: I'm feeling a lil under the weather today. I thought this latest Adventure In Modern Dentistry was gonna be a piece of cake, but I misunderestimated the situation. It's nothing those friendly lil 400 mg Motrin pills can't fix, though. I think.

I LIKE the way you think, Cat. But I wouldn't complain if the money was diverted to defense contractors... as long as they're building F-22s.

Ann sez: However, my plan is to go on working and consuming to the best of my ability.

Spoken like a TRUE American, Ann! I'll live up to half of your bargain... continuing to consume in my modest manner... but I HOPE I don't have to go back to work. ;-)

Buckskins: Isn't that quote a variation on something Churchill said? I'm too lazy to look it up at the moment, but I'm pretty sure I'm right...

Moogie: You may have a point there, Gentle Lady. I'm feeling a bit drained, of late. ;-)

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
