Weirdness Abounds

I put up today's post and... my sidebar has gone missing. Totally. Completely. Well, as viewed in both Chrome and Internet Exploder. The sidebar is there if I view EIP using Firefox.

Which leaves me scratching my head and going "WTF?"

Blogger continues to exasperate me. In SO many ways...

Do you see my sidebar, Gentle Reader?

  2. Nope ... don't see it Buck.

Where could it be? (I think you have been spending too much time at Huffington Post and they found a way to sabotage your blog... )

  7. Well, now. This is VERY strange. Nothing on Blogger Buzz or Known Issues. Nothing in the Support Group. Clearing my cache doesn't work. I posted a message to the Blogger discussion group - layouts and templates about five minutes ago... we'll see what happens.

If you comment further, please tell me which browser you're using... and thanks to all!!

  9. I.E. here (v6.0, if you can believe it). No sidebar here, but that could be the ancient version of IE my employer continues to use.

(Did I just admit I'm blogging from work?)

  11. Mine does that on occasion Buck, even without Firefox. I usually go back to the dashboard and eventually I work my way back with an edit here or a fake edit there.

  12. Okay, this is weird. I do see your sidebar when I click on the name for one of your stories. But the sidebar disappears when all your posts are up on the screen. That's why I saw it before in IE. I had just clicked to read the "Travel" post.

  13. Opera. Your sidebar has been exiled.

I'll try to hit you tonight from the desktop which is still 'fox. Looks like you already know what's going on there though.

  15. Buck,

Try commenting this out of your HTML code. Everything else between the "main page" source code and the "one post" source code, is identical, line for line.

  16. Late last night I couldn't get it in Firefox or IE - I tried both. I see it now in Firefox.

I'm having fits with blogger and they have no system to report problems and get help. ARGH

  17. Thank you all for your inputs... much appreciated.

And Cynthia... I sure do hear ya about Blogger and no trouble reporting system. But... Blogger is "free." Ya gets what ya pays for, eh?

  18. I can't move anything on my sidebar - tried the 'forum' - no help at all. Blogger, oh blogger, you may be free, but you need to work!

  19. Hey Buck...it just keeps getting better, now mine, at least the bottom part is gone...and even using my system, can't get it back.

    Blooger is a Booger!

  20. Buck I know you've got it back but as usual I'm a day late and a dollar short with my 2 cents worth... About a month ago, my sidebar disappeared. After a week I went in and changed the template, which brought it back. I checked periodically to see if the sidebar would reappear when I switched back to the original template, but it did not. I just gave up and kept the new template. Since yours has been restored, I just checked again and have been able to return to the original template. Wonders never cease!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
