... and all I can say is "WOW!" Yep. The woman has GOT it. And she gets it, too.
"The American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of personal discovery."
Oh... My Lord. Poor, poor Joe Biden. I pity the fool.

Buck, stopped by while watching the Palin speech. WOW is right.
ReplyDeleteUncle Buck,
ReplyDeleteI hope you're sitting down while reading this and have incorporated some form of depressant (like at least two Shiner's).
I watched the ENTIRE speech.
Let's just say...she might make me a voter yet.
Buck? BUCK!? Are you ok? i shoulda warned you about not eating or drinking while reading this post. Better clean that up before it stains somethin'.
Wow. WOW! I was worried there for a bit. So much hype had been made about it all day, I was scared that between that and the awesome speech from Thompson last night that she may not be able to pull it off. But she did it! Wow!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that's all that any of us can say!!! WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like we got ourselves a real race ... and I agree with Buck - Biden and Obama must be feeling sick tonight!!!
Did any of you see Howard Wolfson, the Democrat campaign operative on Fox News? Even HE couldn't think of a critical thing to say, except that he doesn't agree with her politically. LOL
The other pundits on Fox are right - A STAR was BORN tonight!!!!
WOW
What a speaker! What a gal! What a family! Just who we need to lead this country along with McCain!
ReplyDeleteShe even touched CNN's Campbell Brown because of the cuddly kid stuff. Excellent on ALL levels.
I don't know that I'm quite at the "WOW" stage, but Gov. Palin delivered her speech in a very impressive manner -- enough so that Mary and I had to rewind the DishTV feed a couple of times. Great use of humor. Yes, the Dems should be worried tonight. Don't know how long that will last, as American opinions can change quickly.
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, I saw a few blog references to Gov. Palin today, calling her a MILF. I found that annoying, but then I saw VPILF and for some reason I thought that was funny! Go figure.
Not voting for McCain, certainly not voting for a woman who might push her ideas about reproductive choices on American women ... not necessarily voting for Obama/Biden, either ...
Lori
Santa Rosa, CA
Susan, Jenny, Sharon, and Bec: We seem to be in agreement, no? (BIG grin!)
ReplyDeleteJay: I WAS sitting down, but I wasn't anesthetized. All I can say is "Great!"
Lori: I'm a lil bit saddened you won't be voting for McCain... but not that surprised. Please feel absolutely FREE to vote for anyone other than The One. I encourage you to do so.
As for Palin "...who might push her ideas about reproductive choices on American women," I don't think there's a great danger of that. The Dems will most likely still control the Congress and that's where your threat will come from. And there's that lil matter of the Supreme Court. (Which will get fixed should McCain be elected... as Stevens, Ginsburg, and Breyer can't live forever. And that's a Good Thing.)
I really DON'T want to get into a pissing contest with anyone about abortion. Period, full stop.
Bec: I switched over to CNN for about 15 minutes or so when Fox began re-runs of Palin's speech, or about the time that SUPREMELY obnoxious Donna Brazile was pontificating, along with some other fat Democrat pundit. And that was ALL I could take. I detest that (insert vile descriptive pejorative here, as many as you like) Blitzer person, as well as Anderson Cooper. They're simply TOO much for me. I went surfing elsewhere for a while. But that's just me, LOL!
My TV just doesn't go to CNN. Period. LOL
ReplyDeleteI go there occasionally, Sharon. Especially when there's breaking international news... or when Fox is off on another Caylee kind of thing, or a car chase, or such crap. Fox just doesn't have the international presence CNN does. One place my teevee never goes? MS-NBC. EVER. That frickin' Olbermann and his pals just turn my stomach, literally.
ReplyDeletePalin will definitely liven things up. I liked the Hockey mom/ pit bull joke.

ReplyDeleteI killed your comment, Pat. I won't have slurs on my blog, ever. As I've said before: you're free to comment on anything and everything I post here, as long as you're civil. In this case you weren't. So: buh-bye.
ReplyDeleteLou sez: I liked the Hockey mom/ pit bull joke.
ReplyDeleteThat just might have been my favorite line of the night... for obvious reasons!
"The Dems will most likely still control the Congress and that's where your threat will come from."
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure the Dems will continue to control Congress. This has been pretty much a do-nothing Congress, and even I'm sick of it/them. I've concluded that Pelosi is, in fact, a bit of a nut job.
"And there's that lil matter of the Supreme Court. (Which will get fixed should McCain be elected... as Stevens, Ginsburg, and Breyer can't live forever. And that's a Good Thing.)"
Why do you think the Supreme Court needs to be "fixed," Buck? Are you saying you want it to be slanted completely to the right? Seems to me that a balanced Court would serve the nation best.
As for voting/not voting for McCain, I cannot in good conscience vote for him now, with his choice of Palin as running mate. Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale now haunts my thoughts even more than usual ...

ReplyDeletePelosi... a nut-job? Why, Lori! Sometimes you DO surprise me. One can only hope you're correct and we see a return to a Republican-controlled Congress. I'm NOT holding my breath, however.
Are you saying you want it to be slanted completely to the right? Seems to me that a balanced Court would serve the nation best.
Well... yes. That IS what I'm saying. OTOH, you make a good point... there is something to be said for a "balanced" court. I'm not exactly sure what that might be, in reality, but let me think on it for a lil bit. As you well know, I tend to slant left when it comes to social issues. But at the same time, I'm troubled with the Left's tendency to "legislate from the bench." Not that that phenomenon is exclusively the province of The Left, but it certainly seems that way.
Maybe it's a function of age. We all tend to become more conservative as we age (just wait... it WILL hit you... Eventually.). Or perhaps it's something else. But at this very moment I'm much more in favor of conservative jurisprudence, as exemplified by Scalia and Roberts, than I am of the opposite. I'm firing from the hip, here.
Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale now haunts my thoughts even more than usual ...
Oh, fer God's SAKE, Lori. You can do better than that. Next thing I know you'll be going off on me about all those frickin' black helicopters...
;-) <=== (That's a grin and a wink.)
"Next thing I know you'll be going off on me about all those frickin' black helicopters... "
ReplyDeleteYou mean the ones from which Sarah shoots wolves? ; )
You mean the ones from which Sarah shoots wolves? ; )
ReplyDeleteYet another reason to love the woman, eh?
Or: ya got nuthin' to worry about, assuming you're NOT a wolf. ;-)
... or a wolf in sheep's clothing? ; )
ReplyDeleteJust as long as you stay in sheep's clothing you might get by... Otherwise the penalties for being caught on the field of battle out of uniform, i.e., a SPY, are pretty danged harsh. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOops. I see a Gitmo attack coming on...
