Satire, In Two Flavas

Well, there’s satire…

And then there’s satire:

From Vanity Fair:

We had our own presidential campaign cover in the works, which explored a different facet of the Politics of Fear, but we shelved it when The New Yorker’s became the “It Girl” of the blogosphere. Now, however, in a selfless act of solidarity with our downstairs neighbors here at the Condé Nast building, we’d like to share it with you. Confidentially, of course.

But… but… you can only destroy a document once, to the best of my knowledge. And hasn’t Dubya already shredded the Constitution? Or used it as TP? Or to serve as “just a piece of paper” for jotting down notes to hisownself? So how come McCain gets to burn it? How does that work? Oh, yeah. I forgot. It’s satire

  1. Pretty clever.

Don't you just love it when the so-called liberals get their panties in a twist? They're always the first ones to complain when they get lampooned, but the last to come to the defense of anyone whose politics they deem incorrect.

The world would be such a better place if some people had sense of humor transplants.

Forgive me for saying this (coz YMMV), but I think Liberals are the MOST humor-impaired people in the entire freakin' world... with the possible exception of the Islamofascists. But then again, the only thing that separates Libs from I-fascists as a class is their respective religions. IMHO, of course.

  4. Them Dems - they can dish it out, but they sure can't take it. The burning Constitution in the cartoon was a bit of a surprise. Maybe I will draw a cartoon with Obama wiping his feet on the Constitution as he walks into Congress.

  5. Buck - we agree (no big surprise there). Liberals are just so anti-everyting, so P.C.-focused - they miss out all on the humor around them.

Of course, the fact that alot of that humor is at their expense...

They need to lighten up. Oh wait, they have to save the world, how can they possible lighten up...

You know - as a recovered Liberal (yup, I admitted that right here on the Interwebs...) - I feel I can say all that. Since I saw the light (so to speak) I do have a much better sense of humor and am more willing to laugh.

Of course, being a conservative trapped in the liberal wasteland of the Northeast - it's not small task. To laugh.

  6. Thanks, Ash... glad I could make ya smile!

Lou: Agreed on the "dish it out - can't take it." I didn't know you did cartoons, but that's a GREAT idea!

Kris: Yet another thing we have in common: I was a Leftie as well, until about 1980 or so. Reagan, and all that. The lack of a sense of humor about themselves was one of the factors that drove me out of that particular camp, but Carter was the straw that broke the camel's back, and Reagan was the icing on the cake... to mix a couple of metaphors. ;-)

  7. Lou sez:
"Maybe I will draw a cartoon with Obama wiping his feet on the Constitution as he walks into Congress."
Now THAT'S funny. Thanks, Lou. I'm going to keep waving my magic wand of (no)change and keep that visual in mind...
(Like Kris, I've had my humor transplant already.) (Kudos to Buck for some of that)

  9. Welcome to real world Obama Hussain...welcome to the real world. Not whining allowed...and if your Marxist wife can't take the heat of the campaign, maybe she should have stayed in the kitchen?
