…taken but a very few minutes ago. One of the few things about Spring I don’t like: tree junk. On my car. It’ll get worse, too, as Spring really kicks in later this month. There will be light green alien dust all over everything…
Thank God I don’t have allergies. I sympathize with those that do… this time of year really sucks for them.
We had very brief but intense thunderstorms with an inundation of rain early this morning. I’ve written before about the racket rain makes on an RV roof, and it’s awesome…unless you’re trying to sleep. We had hail this morning, too. Hail on an RV roof is akin to being inside the microwave when the popcorn really lights off. Or maybe the inside of Keith Moon’s drum kit at the end of “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” It’s LOUD, Gentle Reader.
The first picture of you car is so cool! You are so funny about your car. Here in OK guys compete with each to see who's truck is dirtier. I prefer a clean car though.
ReplyDeleteI think you need to wash the Green Hornet. Then maybe we will get some MORE rain!!! LOL! Actually, we got some rain on our farm, but it just sprinkled here at the ranch/house.
ReplyDeleteThank me for what we did get. I drove thru the Soapy Suds on Sunday.
You are so funny about your car.
ReplyDeleteI love that car as much as any (supposedly) rational being can love an inanimate object, Ash. But she's only inanimate when she's parked. She speaks to me in oh-so-many ways when we're on the road, top down and stereo up, no matter if it's on the arrow-straight roads around here or in the twisty-turnies up in the mountains... which is where she literally SHINES.
Trucks are work vehicles. SN1 (and others) might argue that point, but he's wrong. ;-)
Yep, all that tree sperm is a problem. You can't keep a clean car and you have to cover anything on your deck or porch.
ReplyDeleteJenny sez: Thank me for what we did get. I drove thru the Soapy Suds on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThank you? When that first burst hit us this morning around 0600 I had to turn on the teevee to make sure we weren't in the path of severe weather. Add in the fact that I went to bed at 0400, and you might be able to tell I wasn't a Happy Camper about all the thunder, lightning, hail, and wind. Not at all. But: as noted, it passed rather quickly.
We got a LOT of rain here, Jenny, as you might be able to tell from the puddles that still remain in the pic, six and a half hours later.
Mushy sez: Yep, all that tree sperm is a problem. You can't keep a clean car and you have to cover anything on your deck or porch.
Yep. The bike is covered, thank the deities. Everything else will acquire a dusty green aura for about two weeks...
It has been raining here most of the day - lots of rain, thunder, lightning. Our cars are not covered in green things, but first dust and now mud. Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteAllegra--nectar of the gods, at least for those of us with allergies. I sometimes wonder how I made it through the spring without the stuff.
ReplyDeleteLove the top photo. I first thought it was reflections on water.
Your rough morning would have been a musical symphony for me. LOL! The difference between farmers and city folk: Rain is an inconvience to most town folk, and a blessing for the country bumpkins.
ReplyDeleteBut the pollen isn't as bad here as back in Georgia, wouldn't you agree?
Now that top photo is a thing of beauty....that is a keeper Buck!
ReplyDeleteLou sez: It has been raining here most of the day - lots of rain, thunder, lightning. Our cars are not covered in green things, but first dust and now mud. Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteThat was the same storm that blew through here, Lou...if I'm not mistaken.
Becky sez: Allegra--nectar of the gods, at least for those of us with allergies. I sometimes wonder how I made it through the spring without the stuff.
I have the same sorts of thoughts about a lot of the things I take for granted these days. Air conditioning, for one...

I love the sound of light-to-moderate rain on my roof (and elsewhere)... but severe WX scares the HELL out of me, given as how I live in a tornado magnet. And yesterday morning's storm was severe... here, anyway. Those bright red cells on the radar map concern me... a lot!
You're right about the pollen... it isn't bad at all here, compared to some places I've lived.
Pat (and Ash, and Lou, and Becky...): Thanks for the compliments on the pic! Always welcome, those are.
You and that miata of yours..... mine was gray so it did not show so bad....but my car now, it's white and it's murder on it. So I park it in the garage......the RV and rain, yeah would not want to be party to the party when the hail sets in, I would imagine it is a tad bit too loud for me. I have alergies, I live by my inhaler during this time of year, you never know when they will kick in......
ReplyDeleteI did like the first photo though, it was interesting......
I'm one of the afflicted. My little "spell" is just ending now, I think this is Day Twelve or something. Most years it's as short as three or four days when I almost should be in a hospital. Seems the flow of water the previous winter has something to do with the length of my vernal dysfunctions.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a car that was a soul mate, and no longer do. The "newbie" seems to have figured out it might earn something close to that kind of status, with a sufficient length of service and an adequately boring and uneventful service record during that time. Second payment on it is due this weekend.
Oh, one thing I've learned that might inspire comment from you: Birds have preferences about cars. Very strong ones. They were indifferent to the old one, and can't get enough of crapping on the new one. No, I'm not imagining it. I have a garage at home but my vessel is out in the open at work; "Bessie" was never worth the trouble of target practice, but my feathered friends are convinced the new one is their toilet.
I wonder if the green hornet has a similar story to tell.
Buck, it took me half a minute to realize that the top photo was of the hood of your car. I thought it was a lovely photo of stuff floating on a pond. Honestly! Proves you wax that baby often, though, if I thought it was a body of water!
ReplyDeleteTornado magnet: hehe, just reminded me of a movie. Somehow I have a feeling you aren't real up on Disney movies lately, but surely you have heard of Larry the Cable Guy? In the movie Cars, Larry is an old tow truck named Mater. And at one point towards the end of the movie, he yells, "I'm happier than a tornader in a trailer park!"
ReplyDeleteASW sez: but my car now, it's white and it's murder on it. So I park it in the garage...
ReplyDeleteAh, yet another thing I miss about my former fixed-in-place life; my garage. Unlike a lot of other 'Muricans, my garage always had room for two cars. And the odd motorcycle, too. ;-)
Morgan sez: Oh, one thing I've learned that might inspire comment from you: Birds have preferences about cars. Very strong ones.
...

Absolutely. The frickin' birds LOVE to crap on The Green Hornet (case in point). Your new ride wouldn't happen to be dark in color, would it? My theory is the darker the car, the higher the possibility of a bird strike...
Hope your allergies are manageable, Morgan.
Jim sez: Buck, it took me half a minute to realize that the top photo was of the hood of your car. I thought it was a lovely photo of stuff floating on a pond.
Thanks for the kind comment, Jim. There was water on that portion of the hood... my paint doesn't have THAT much orange-peel! ;-)
Jenny sez: I have a feeling you aren't real up on Disney movies lately, but surely you have heard of Larry the Cable Guy?
Yes and yes. Actually, I kinda wanna see "Cars." After hockey's over, though. ;-)
wow - I thought the first photo was of leaves floating in water. Very pretty, actually!
