I remain impressed with General Petraeus, and nearly equally so with Ambassador Crocker. Nothing new or unexpected happened in this morning’s hearing. There may be fireworks in this afternoon’s hearing before Joe Biden’s Foreign Relations committee. I’m particularly interested in what the junior senator from
But I’ll have to watch it on the ‘puter (C-SPAN streaming video), if I watch in real-time. C-SPAN one and two will cover “business as usual” from the floors of the House and Senate, respectively, and C-SPAN3 will have the Foreign Relations committee hearing. I don’t get C-SPAN3 with basic cable, unfortunately.
That sucks, nu?
Ah, well. I have to go out to the base today anyway... and there’s always re-runs. C-SPAN is good about that.
I watched the Dems' speech, then the Reps' speech given by McCain. Then I watched Petraeus' speech. Then my eyes closed since I was sitting in the recliner and had not had enough caffeine.
ReplyDeleteHi Buck! I'm still here. Life has been a whirlwind lately, but I do try to get here every day to read your posts and it helps me to get a grip in the world.
ReplyDeleteWe're off to New Mexico later today; the closing on the house is on Friday. I guess life will remain insane until the end of May. Then I plan to kick back on the portal of my new house and just drink some margaritas and look at the mountains for a while. I just wanted to let you know I am still here and I miss exchanging opinions/comments/etc. with you.
I had the TV on yesterday so I could listen to General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker. I got so mad listening to a**holes like Senators Kennedy and Levin and Boxer and Clinton and Obama even though I did my best to tune them out.
Senator Lindsay Graham's questioning was excellent. We should be honoring the general and the ambassador instead of demanding they attend hearings, and then having the Dems arrogantly preach to them.
Be back next week, my friend!

ReplyDeleteI have to be vertical when watching this sort of stuff, no matter how much caffeine I have in me... otherwise it's Zonk-City. Then again, I'm the guy who occasionally says "Hmmm... think I'll go back to bed for a lil bit..." after finishing off an entire pot of coffee.

I know you've been busy... and it's SO exciting! You're coming into the home stretch now...
I agree with you completely about Graham and such. They're (Crocker/Petraeus) on the House's hot-seat today, but C-SPAN isn't carrying it. So, more late nite re-runs for me...
