A Tale of Two Cities...

Posted only to annoy amuse* Good Buddy Dan, who’s always going on about Florida WX. I might go for a ride with the top down today. Maybe.

You, Dan… on the other hand…better bundle up. It’s COLD down there!

  1. Merry Christmas, Buck! Yep, we're half through the day!

The Katlady was just lamenting the cold weather in Florida, too. NOT bike riding weather in her estimation. Have a great ride!

  5. I should add that it was nasty today. I wore my shorts out to get the paper and the wind blew in a place that should not see cold wind. the rest of the day I wore long pants. A cold rain this morning meant that all the grand kids had to play in the house (5 of them, all under 13)which made a looooong day. Grandma and I played pick-up sticks with the two youngest, that was fun. The older ones played pool most of the day. All in all a grand day. Wish you all could have been here to share it with us. Again, Merry Christmas.

  6. Well, now I don't feel so bad. I got up this morning at 3:00 a.m. and it was 23 degrees F. And it was a lot warmer than that in Alaska. Well it will be up to 26 today up there.

All the time I was in Sendai, Japan, and it got cold there, I just don't remember the cold. I remember it here I guess cause my joints ache.

  7. It was a beautiful day in North TX and Southern OK.

  8. Lin: It was still a lil bit chilly for the bike, at least for this old man. The car has a heater that makes blasting around al fresco in 60-degree weather bearable. The bike doesn't. ;-)

I hope you had a Merry, too, Michele.

Dan: Full disclosure: the weather went to Hell in a hand basket last evening. YesterDAY was a gift from Ma Nature... but she took it back just around sunset. Last night we had 30 mph winds with gusts to 40 and temps in the mid-20s. We also had three-to-five inches of snow (and ice. and sleet.) forecasted for overnight, but that failed to materialize, Thank God.

Sounds like Christmas was good at your place, Dan. I'd have liked to clinked a couple of glasses with ya...

Abe: Ohio in winter can be pretty danged cold! And it goes without saying, but I will, anyway... so was Wakkanai!

Lou: As noted, we were gorgeous here, too. The weather, of course. ;-)

  9. Buck, I just had to weigh in more time on the last of my day time gen time to yank your chain.

Twenty degrees at night! You guys in southern NM are plain spoiled, you know that? We've been getting consistent zero degree hits here for the last week. I am moving our excess sale hits of meats and goodies out to the mesa shadows for frozen storage now. It was so cold that even the skid steer refused to start. grin!

  10. Belated Merry Christmas, Buck. It was and is, dang cold here in Abq. It's 33 here, but with wind chill it's 27. Even the cat only stays out for five or so minutes. Her territory is going to need a lot of re-inspection when it warms up.

I feel your pain, Lin. Been there (figuratively speaking), ain't never going back (willingly). Which, of course, is one of the reasons I'm docked where I am! I can handle a little cold weather from time to time, but NOT steady doses of same. I have lots and lots of respect for what you and Mark are doing "up there," and the things you have to endure just to live. And I DO understand why. Benefits, and all that!

re: Outdoor storage. Are you worried about varmints getting to the meat? Or do you have it secured in a coyote-proof lock-box of sorts?

Cat: I've been watching your WX fairly closely these past few as a friend of mine is heading out your way (ABQ) in a couple of days. On the whole I'd say you guys have been worse off than us. We've actually had it fairly easy this last week, despite dire warnings from the National WX Svc. I hope it stays that way, too!

Just be polite... that's all I ask.
