There’s some really excellent, high-quality, high-resolution aviation photography at Richard Seaman’s site. Some of the best plane pr0n there is…bar none. The flying boats, while interesting, can’t hold a candle to the fighter aircraft. And the fact that the Rooshians eject flares during their air shows (as in the photo above) both amazes and mystifies me. Perhaps the teams deployed flares because this particular air show was held over water, or perhaps they (the Russian aerial demonstration teams) do it as a matter of course…who knows? I’m sure there are at least six or 12 federal, state, and/or local laws (not to mention neighborhood association by-laws, codicils, and the like…) that prevent the ‘Birds or the Blue Angels from doing similar maneuvers at their shows.
